Catholics use guilt trips on their kids to make them behave. I’ve seen this and I’ve seen this work.

Any sort of parenting based in discipline and authority and breaking the child's will has no place in adoptive parenting. Unfortunately, many of the Biblically based parenting books do tend that way. And they may be fine for run of the mill kids and perhaps even kids who are adopted as infants, but for adopted kids who are already broken - attachment parenting is much more effective.
