Vatican’s number 2: Priest celibacy up for discussion
The Daily Caller ^ | September 12, 2013 | Caroline May

The Vatican’s new secretary of state, Archbishop Pietro Parolin said this week that the issue of priest celibacy is not dogma and is therefore up for discussion.

“It’s not a church dogma and it can be discussed because it is a church tradition,” Parolin told the Venezuelan El Universal, according to a translation by the National Catholic Reporter.

“The work the church did to institute ecclesiastical celibacy must be considered,” said Parolin, who will officially assume the role of secretary of state in October. “We cannot simply say that it is part of the past. It is a great challenge for the pope, because he is the one with the ministry of unity and all of those decisions must be made thinking of the unity of the church and not to divide it.....

No, that information is not out there, that is why you can’t post it.

It seems clear that you can’t post the quotes from the sources that can show us that fathers and Christian leaders are the “the most probable pedophiles”.

But it is nice to see someone post nonsense on the internet and then when challenged to tell people to go search the net until they find what doesn’t exist.

Seriously.

It seems clear that you can’t post the quotes from the sources that can show us that fathers and Christian leaders are the “the most probable pedophiles”.

That link was not relevant at all to yours and Salvation’s claim.

you’re on your own after this one. I’ve provided some starting points for you but either you don’t really want the proof or you want to deny it.

Scripture addresses men who have a difficult time controlling sexual urges. Say’s to marry.

>>In other words, the Catholic Church does not have an especially acute problem with sexual abuse,<<

You are disconnected from reality. In the past decade, the Holy See has dealt with over 3000 priest who committed abuse over the last fifty years.

3000 priest. What is your definition of acute?

I think at some point it may change to allow men who are already married to be ordained based on special consideration on a case by case basis. Much like the exception already permitted for under certain circumstance. I don’t think it will ever be standard policy.

You two need to quit posting that phony claim.

It seems clear that you can’t post the quotes from the sources that can show us that fathers and Christian leaders are the “the most probable pedophiles”.

Posting links that don’t prove your claim doesn’t address anything, it only proves that you need to quit making it up.

So Jesus and St. Paul commended something that is unnatural?

Pedophiles are homosexuals or someone the victim may already know such as a parent, uncle, cousin, coach, teacher, etc. — not priests.

So would it just be better to call those Catholic priests *homosexual serial rapists of children*?

That which we call a rose by any other name......

Is there no evil that a priest can commit that won't be condemned by Catholics?

Sheesh. If homosexual rape or molestation of children is not enough for someone to rise up and condemn them, then apparently nothing is.

It is beyond comprehension that those priests are not condemned by anyone. No wonder the Catholic church is still wrestling with the problem. The problem is never dealt with. You can't deal with what you won't admit exists.

Scripture addresses men who have a difficult time controlling sexual urges. Say’s to marry.

God said it was not good for man to be alone. God performed the first marriage and blessed it and commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply.

IN the NT, Paul gave instructions for qualifications of men who are in leadership roles, that of deacon and elder and one was that they were married.

He also said that the mark of those following false doctrine was in abstaining from foods and forbidding to marry.

Marriage and ministry are not mutually exclusive.

The biggest strawman ever constructed is the RCC. And the “faithful” just keep stuffing it with more straw. One day God is going to rain fire down and *poof*, up it will go. Pomp and Circumstance and all.

The record of the Church in dealing with sex abuse by clergy is better than the public schools, sports teams at colleges, or Protestant institutions, it is just that because we are Catholics, the world hates us, as Christ told us it would.

annalex, are you purposely trying to miss the point? No one else on this earth pretends to be able to forgive or retain the sins of others. No one except RC priests. C’mon, you know that. THAT’S what makes the RCC cases so hideous. If you cannot see that, you are purposely trying NOT to.

Well, Sal, the first thing that came up when I went to the site you gave me was a big honkin’ picture of Our Lady of the Guadalupe, or whatever. Yeah, I’m gonna’ go there and get LOTS of truth...Is there nothing you post that doesn’t have a picture of our lady of something or other leading out? If you truly want non-catholics to explore your church’s teachings, I’ll give you a hint: we’re not into visions, apparitions or other “miracles” in the sky.

No, I told you I didn’t get past the picture. A picture tells a thousand words, don’t you know. And I simply cannot abide these visions or drawings of what so and so probably looked like. Really.
