FULL TITLE: Pastor shot dead mid-sermon by disgruntled ex-deacon, who turned himself into police after the horrific murder
A Louisiana pastor was fatally shot as he preached to a crowd of more than 60 during a revival service.
Pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr. was preaching at about 8:20 pm on Friday at Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center when he was shot twice by former deacon Woodrow Karey.
Mr Karey entered the church as Mr Harris was preaching to over 60 churchgoers and 'walked up to him and shot him at close range,' officials said. The pastor was then shot a second time after falling to the floor.
Mr Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sixty-five people were inside at the time, including the victim's wife, said Chief Deputy Stitch Guillory My Karey then left the church, but soon called the sheriff's office and surrendered.

Notice how the Daily Mail keeps posting gun violence stories from the US?
Everybody’s a critic.
wonder what the sermon was about?
Wages of sin?
Methinks there is a woman involved, somewhere somehow.
Pretty low down dirty deed from a former deacon no less.
Allah mede him do it.
The reverend was giving the shooter’s wife some personal and private “guidance”. Happened in my town “across the tracks” as they say.
When you look at a situation and you don’t understand it, it is either money or sex!
Prayers for his family.
And the gun grabbers cheer. Another death they can exploit.
I correctly picked the ethnicity before I clicked on the link. Does that make me a racist?
I guess they don’t have enough of their own to satisfy public interest.
When asked by the police why he would shoot the Pastor, he replied “the devil made me do it!”.
Bizarre shooting death: Ex-deacon Woodrow Karey (left) shot pastor Ronald Harris Sr (right) to death Friday night while the preacher was giving a sermon to about 60 church members
Money or woman? Ya mean it wasn’t about the reserved parking space?
It was about the color of the carpet.
Too bad he didn’t go down to the cellar to pray.
“He died doing what he loved.”
“it is either money or sex!
I would have never have guessed that.
“The reverend was giving the shooters wife some personal and private guidance. Happened in my town across the tracks as they say.”
I would have just thought the man flipped and found Islam, however this man confessed so can’t be that. Now wondering what will come out at the trial.
Won’t be a trial if he’s confessed. More likely to be a plea deal to avoid a death sentence.
What was he before that? And did he use magic or just change his clothes? Did he need hormone shots for that? Did he turn himself into the whole force or just one officer? Maybe he turned himself into a police horse or a police car.
Oh the unanswered questions when headline editors don't know grammar.
I have sat through some long boring sermons before...but...
...Now you Stop That! .....in my best Jack Benny voice.
Thank you! That was the first thing that jumped out at me. Bad guy, commit crim, become cop. No one can get me n ow!! A crrowd of more than 60 was pretty funny, too. Really bad writing.
Dollars to donuts the preacher was “preaching” to the perp’s wife on the side.
In my church here in the deep, deep, South, this perp would have died in a crossfire.
The deacons have the proper CCW permits and carry in church for this very reason.
As it should be.
The police can’t (won’t?) protect “ ‘almost’ gun-free zones” - schools/churches/malls. So, you must be ready to defend you and yours.
After these mass shootings, I believe the NRAs best move would be to descend on the victimized community and offer free classes on CCW, firearm safety, etc. since this community now knows they must defend themselves.
A Southern pastor said to his congregation:
“Someone in this congregation has spread a rumor that I belong to the Ku Klux Klan. This is a horrible lie and one which a Christian community cannot tolerate. I am embarrassed and do not intend to accept this. Now, I want the party who said this to stand and ask forgiveness from God and this Christian family.”
No one moved.
The preacher continued, “Do you have the nerve to face me and admit this is a falsehood? Remember, you will be forgiven and in your heart you will feel glory. Now stand and confess your transgression.”
Again, all was quiet.
Then, very slowly, a drop-dead gorgeous woman with a body that would stop a runaway train rose from the third pew. Her head was bowed and her voice quivered as she spoke.
“Reverend there has been a terrible misunderstanding. I never said you were a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
I simply told a couple of my friends that you were a wizard under the sheets.”
The preacher fell to his knees, his wife fainted, and the congregation roared.
