Prayer for Our American Heroes and Country

Psalm 86:11-12 Teach me your way, O LORD, so that I can live by your truth; make me single-hearted, so that I may honor you. I will thank you, O LORD my God, with my whole heart; and I will glorify your name forever.

OH GOD, creator and sustainer of all Life…and the lives of our beloved heroes. We pray for them today and every day Dear LORD. Please, help them to learn to guard their hearts as well as they have learned to guard our nation and our freedoms. You have given them the manual to RIGHTEOUSNESS, YOUR WRITTEN WORD…YOUR SON, the LIVING WORD…and YOUR SPIRIT, the voice of TRUTH. Grant to them a SINGLE HEART to live in honor of YOUR GLORY and the sacrifice that they lay down each day for this country. OH LORD, may that which flows out from their hearts be only of Thanksgiving and Praise, because of THY GREAT LOVE and SALVATION…We ask this OH GOD, in JESUS NAME…Amen.

OH GOD, ETERNAL ALMIGHTY GOD, from the day our President spoke those words “American is no longer a Christian Nation, we have become as the other nations…and indeed we got our “king”. OH GOD, what foolery and folly is there in leading a country outside the boundaries of THY WILL AND THY WORD…and GRACIOUS GOD, YOU warned…you sow what you reap. Forgive us. Forgive us for every one, from the day that this nation began, who look to man above YOU and YOUR WORD to govern our country. This is not just this generation’s sin, it has been a sin that crept in and spread and we stand NOT in WHITE in YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, but white as one with the disease of leprosy – hopeless. YET LORD, (and thank YOU for this word that YOU SOVEREIGNLY TUCK into the pages of YOUR MERCY…YET), YOU raised up a King, a man after YOUR OWN HEART, and the nation was united and blessed..We ask for mutual MERCY and GRACE for us OH GOD…for YOUR NAME SAKE, for the sake of the ones who have sacrificed for our country, for the SAKE OF THE GOSPEL for this is TRUTH, for the sake of our own beloveds…OH LORD…IN JESUS NAME, we ask and we pray…Amen.

The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who straggled into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.

AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Hubble, Zoos, And Singing Children

What do the Hubble Space Telescope, a zoo, and singing children have in common? According to the teaching of Psalm 148, we could conclude that they all point to God’s magnificent creation.

The idea that God created our world is often questioned, so perhaps it’s a good time for a reminder of the praise we and all creation should heap on our heavenly Father for His magnificent handiwork.

Hubble can help us with that through its eye-popping pictures of our universe. Every one of those brilliant photos points to stars that focus attention on God’s creative majesty. “Praise Him, all you stars of light!” says verse 3.

A visit to a zoo points us to the great diversity of wildlife God created. We look at verses 7 and 10 and say thank you to God for sea creatures, wild animals, insects, and birds.

And a few minutes of watching little children singing uninhibited praises to God symbolizes the truth that all people of earth should lift their voices in honor of our Creator (vv.11-13).

Stars, animals, and children: “Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted” (v.13). Let’s join in saying thanks for His creation. “Praise the Lord!”

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation!
