SEOUL Former Seoul American High School music teacher Irene Lee died Thursday. Lee, a native of De Smet, S.D.(had) retired in June after a 41-year of quality teaching. Irene seemed to know every single student, their families, when and what they were going through. She genuinely cared for them. That takes great emotional commitment. Everybody was family to her, and she inspired trust. Lee moved to Seoul in 1983 after teaching elementary school in Stuttgart, Germany, according to a 2004 Stars and Stripes article. Rachel welcome Irene. Rab will be along later.
Irene sounds like a wonderful person and teacher...the kind we need more of...
at one time, teaching was considered a public service, a vocation, not a job....I miss those days...
Great teachers always find that way.
Thanks so much for posting.
