COSTA MESA, Calif. — Paul Crouch, the televangelist who built what's been called the world's largest Christian broadcasting network, has died. He was 79.

Crouch died at his home in California on Saturday after a decade-long fight with degenerative heart disease, his grandson, Brandon Crouch, told The Associated Press.

"He was an incredible businessman, entrepreneur, visionary; he built something that impacted the world," he said.

Trinity Broadcast Network had reported that Crouch fell ill and was taken to a hospital in October while visiting the network's facility in Colleyville, Texas. He later returned to California for continued treatment of "heart and related health issues."

I think these guys might be guilty of some personality disorders but they seemed to be okay on the majors just off on a lot of minors. I don’t dare presume to know where they are now but I think they might well be in Heaven. I’ve heard all the rumors surrounding these men but one can’t say that many people were not blessed by their actions and words at least from a distance through their TV ministries. Now someone like Warren - He needs some prayer and Holy Spirit led guidance as he seems to be leading people into a NWO ecumenical false church as far as I’m concerned.

OWNERS OF THE BIGGEST HERETICAL TV STATION IN THE WORLD - TBN

ECUMENICAL

BENNY HINN’S CHEERLEADER

ARMINIAN

DISPENSATIONAL FUTURIST

WORD FAITH THEOLOGY

Jesus said:
Matthew 12:36
But i say unto you, that every idle word that man shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Matthew 12:37
For by your wordsthou shalt be justified , and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

So then, what does Paul Crouch have to say?

Christians are little gods.
(Praise the Lord (TBN), recorded 7/7/86)

God draws no distinction between Himself and us. God opens up the union of the very godhead (Trinity), and brings us into it.
(Paul Crouch, Praise-a-thon (TBN), November 1990)

Heresy hunters are to go to Hell.
(Paul Crouch, Praise-a-thon (TBN), 4/2/91)

“(Paul Crouch) Heretic hunters, these guys who spend their lives straightening us all out doctrinally, their gonna go straight to hell ... (Kenneth Copeland) Some of the people that I know who have criticized, some of them are dead right today in an early grave because of it and there’s more than one of ‘em got cancer.”
(Paul Crouch with Kenneth Copeland on TBN)

“Do you know what else that’s settled then tonight? This hue and cry and controversy that has been spawned by the devil to try to bring dissension within the body of Christ that we are gods. I am a little god. I have His name. I am one with Him. I’m in covenant relation. I am a little god. Critics be gone! (You are everything that He is.)”
(Paul Crouch, “Praise the Lord” program, July 7, 1986).

“I think God’s given up on a lot of that old rotten Sanhedrin religious crowd, twice dead, plucked up by the roots. I think they’re damned and on their way to hell and I don’t think there’s any redemption for them...the heresy hunters that want to find a little mote of illegal doctrine in some Christian’s eye and pluck that little mote out of their eye when they’ve got the whole forest in their own lives and in their own eyes. I say to hell with you! Oh hallelujah. Get out of God’s way, quit blocking God’s bridges or God’s gonna shoot you if I don’t! I refuse to argue any longer with any of you out there. Don’t even call me. If you want to argue doctrine, if you want to straighten out somebody over here, if you want to criticize Ken Copeland for his preaching on faith, or Dad Hagin. Get out of my life! I don’t even want to talk to you or hear you. I don’t want to see your ugly face! Get out of my face in Jesus’ name.”
(Paul Crouch, “Praise-a-thon” broadcast on TBN, recorded 4/2/91)

“Read the parable of the Wheat and the Tares in Matthew 13:24-30 and you will see that at the end of this age the “ANGELS” are sent forth to remove evil from the earth. That word “ANGELS” also means messengers. So God may use some of us to finish up the work of this age.”
(Paul Crouch, PTL Newsletter, March, 1994, as cited in “Year 2000: Latter Rain” file, Alabama Discernment Ministries)

“if you have been healed or saved or blessed through TBN and have not contributed to (the) station, you are robbing God and will lose your reward in heaven.”
Paul Crouch(on the TBN show “Praise The Lord” during their money-raising telethon)

“The first evidence to many of us was the great stirring of the Spirit in Toronto, Canada, about two years ago. Then, spontaneous revival broke out in Pensacola, Florida. Hungry souls sometimes wait in line all day just to get into the services at Brownsville Assembly of God Church. Signs, wonders and miracles, just like the Book of Acts, are happening there and many other places at home and abroad!”
(Paul Crouch, Praise The Lord Newsletter, August 1997)

“God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world, and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in the way of God’s great voice of proclamation to the whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen!”
(Paul Crouch, TBN, 11/7/97)

(Speaking to Kenneth Copeland) “Somebody said—I don’t know who said it—but they claim that you Faith teachers declare that we are gods. You’re a god. I’m a god. Small ‘g’ now, but we are the gods of this world. . . . Well, are you a god—small ‘g’?” To this, Jan Crouch, referring to Copeland, enthusiastically exclaimed: “He’s gonna say, ‘Yes.’ I love it.”
Paul Crouch (Praise the Lord TBN February 5, 1986)

that old rotten Sandedrin crowd (those who oppose ecumenism), twice dead, plucked up by the roots...they’re damned and on their way to hell and I don’t think there’s any redemption for them......the hypocrites, the heresy hunters that want to find a little mote of illegal doctrine in some Christian’s eyes...when they’ve got a whole forest in their own lives...I say, to hell with you! Get out of my life! Get out of the way! Quit blockin’ God’s bridges (of ecumenism)!

I’m tired of this!...This is in my spirit. Oh Hallelujah...Have you ever seen the old movie, Patton?...He’s my hero, he’s my hero. Old nail-chewing, tobacco-chewin’, cussin’ Patton- but he read the Bible every day. I have a feelin’ we’ll see old General George in Heaven...There’s a wonderful scene in Patton...they’re tryin’ to get the Third Army across the bridge in France and there’s an old, dumb jackass...right there on the bridge and it’s blockin’ the whole convoy of troops...General George roars up, pulls that ivory-handled revolver out...and shoots the donkey...There’s a spiritual application here...

I want to say to all you Scribes, Pharisees, heresy hunters, all of you that are going around pickin’ little bits of doctrinal error out of everybody’s eyes and dividin’ the Body of Christ...get out of God’s way, stop blockin’ God’s bridges (of unity), or God’s goin’ to shoot you if I don’t......let Him sort out all this doctrinal doodoo!...I refuse to argue any longer with any of you out there! Don’t even call me if you want to argue...Get out of my life! I don’t want to talk to you...I don’t want to see your ugly face!

God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen!”
Paul Crouch (April 2, 1991, TBN Praise-a-thon)

It get’s worse - now comes the death threats.

....I want you all to listen carefully. This is a word - a prophetic word that came to me on September the 25th. Now we didn’t have a clue that God was gonna do what He has done this week. We didn’t know. Now a few of you, God had tipped off. Who was it? I think you said it, Schaumbauch, when you came in, and somebody else said to me - it was you, James Payne - said it was going to be the greatest week that Trinity has ever had. And I said, “I receive it. I accept it.” But I hadn’t really had that same quickening in my spirit. I knew it was gonna be good, but didn’t know it was gonna be this good.

Well, this is from sweet little Judy Alsop. She’s one of our own sweet ladies that works here on the internet. She’s the one that takes many of your e-mails and things that come in off the internet and sends it to the right place. And this is the word of the Lord that came to her, and I want you to listen carefully. This is, this is awesome!

Now, remember, this is 9/25, so that’s 9, 10, 11, it’s not quite two months old, okay? And she sent it to me.

Same lie Satan fed Adam and Eve in the Garden.

This is also one of the teachings of the Word of Faith movement.

Blasphemy. People need to be using a lot of discernment and getting into the word to make sure their theology is right.

That clearly isn't happening. Too many people are depending on experience and using that to measure Scripture instead of using Scripture to measure their experience.

Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Confucianism....

Satan will protect his own if it's leading people away from God.

We're talking about a man who is claiming that people are one with God, that they are God, and who is praying death threats over those who oppose them.

Well, I oppose that kind of blasphemous teaching.

Too bad, Crouch.

The Catholic Church and Mormons also teach that “we are god” or will become gods. They leave the impression that we are to become like God. In the Old Testament there is a word that is used where judges were called gods but it’s not the same.

>> The Catholic Church does not teach that we are to become gods. Where on earth did you get that falsehood?<<

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church which teaches that.

CCC 460 The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature": "For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God." "For the Son of God became man so that we might become God." "The only-begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in his divinity, assumed our nature, so that he, made man, might make men gods."

And from the teaching of those the Catholic Church holds as their “church fathers”.

Saint Irenaeus
- “Do we cast blame on him [God] because we were not made gods at our beginning, but first we were made men, then, in the end, gods?’ (Against Heresies 4, 38)

Clement of Alexandria
- “Yea, I say, the Word of God became a man so that you might learn from a man how to become a god.” Clement of Alexandria, Exhortation to the Greeks, 1.

Athanasius, bishop of Alexandria
- “The Word was made flesh in order that we might be enabled to be made gods. . . . Just as the Lord, putting on the body, became a man, so also we men are both deified through his flesh, and henceforth inherit everlasting life.” Athanasius, Against the Arians, 1.39, 3.39.

Hippolytus:
"He (man) is made God by water and the Holy Spirit after the regeneration of the laver."[ Discourse on the Holy Theophany, 8]
"Thy body shall be immortal and incorruptible as well as thy soul. For thou hast become God."[ Philosophoumena, X.34, quoted in Craig White (compiler), "Early Doctrines of the Eastern Churches".]

2 Peter 1:4
He has granted to us his precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers of the divine nature.

Interpreted one way, it could have a heretical meaning. Interpreted St.Peter's way, it does not have a heretical meaning, but a profoundly true and precious one.

Trust me, Catholics go with St Peter on this.

But (sincere question) how do you interpret this Scripture?

Becoming partakers of the divine nature is not becoming the divine nature.

We do not become God.

We have a beginning, God does not.

John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

NOt the right to become God.

Interpreted incorrectly, it would have a heretical meaning. (That's a tautology, folks.) But interpreted as St. Peter intended, it does not have a heretical meaning, but a "precious and very great" one.

Trust me, Catholics go with St. Peter on this.

But (sincere question) I'm sure you don't just ignore these promises. That being the case, how do you interpret this Scripture?

I'm not looking for polemics here. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if I could learn something valuable from your perspective.
