The Holy See will not share information from its internal proceedings related to clerical sexual abuse with the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child, the Reuters news agency reported.
The Committee on the Rights of the Child is responsible for examining compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a 1989 treaty signed by 193 states. The Holy See signed the treaty in 1990.
The United States is not bound by the treaty: although President Bill Clinton signed it in 1995, the Senate has not ratified it.
In the light of the recognition by the Holy See of sexual violence against children committed by members of the clergy, brothers and nuns in numerous countries around the world, and given the scale of the abuses, please provide detailed information on all cases of child sexual abuse committed by members of the clergy, brothers and nuns or brought to the attention of the Holy See over the reporting period, the committee requested.
Please provide data, disaggregated by age, sex, ethnic origin and socio-economic status, on cases of violence against children within the family for the period 2010-2012 reported to institutions of the Holy See and the actions taken to protect children and prevent further violence, the committee added.
In its response, the Holy See stated that in order to protect witnesses, the accused, and the integrity of the Church process, its proceedings are not open to the public, Reuters reported.
Deeply saddened by the scourge of sexual abuse, the Holy See does not exercise effective control over the local activities of Catholic institutions around the world, the Holy See added in its response.

You can killem via Planned Perenthood...and then there’s the other fag and/or pedophile issue...where the UN wants the age of consent to be 14.
Good, last consortium that needs to know.
They signed onto it, and now they refuse to comply with it?
How about the UN turning over its internal documents? They probably stink to high heaven, like Shelob’s lair.
The document which was signed was a statement of broad principles of the "rights" of children set out in 54 articles. These included the right to protection from harmful influences, abuse and exploitation. The Holy See concurs with that right, hence the signature.
The Committee is charged with examining compliance with the Convention. The Holy See is not refusing to comply with the Convention. It is rejecting the Committee's demands in this particular case since it rejects the inference that it is responsible for abuse which occurred in individual dioceses where the responsible party is the local ordinary. It also considers that there are legal issues, both secular and ecclesiastical which override the committee's demands.
The Holy See did not "sign on" to surrendering its autonomy to an ad hoc UN committee.
I would NOT share anything with the UN! Particularly, money!
"They signed onto it, and now they refuse to comply with it?"
We have one vote for the United States immediately complying with every detail of everything the UN has passed in order to set an example for the Vatican. After all, anything our UN Ambassador didn't veto the US should comply with.
How about a show of hands from those who agree with the Calvinist view that it's shocking and awful for the US to ignore some of what the UN wants the US to do?
Would that be the vote from Pope Benedict XVI?
In the face of the unrelenting growth of global interdependence, there is a strongly felt need, even in the midst of a global recession, for a reform of the United Nations Organization, and likewise of economic institutions and international finance, so that the concept of the family of nations can acquire real teeth. So Calvinists don't deny they want the US to obey everything the UN wants this country to do
Then strict obedience to the UN is a cherished ideal for self-elected folks and not just another one of the hundreds of, "do as I say, not as I do", trash posts.
I'm glad we cleared that up.
If you're going to try to put your words in other peoples' mouths, you might want to think about washing your hands first.
