Is Jesus Christ God?
Christian Answers ^ | 2012 | Various

Posted on 12/22/2013 7:28:20 AM PST by DouglasKC

“The Christian faith has not been tried and found wanting. It has rather been found difficult and left untried.” —Chesterton

I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending. The story of Jesus is either the greatest event in history or the cruelest hoax. If it is a hoax, then the whole of the Christian message crumbles together with the hopes of those multitudes of lives built on his name. The apostle Paul said:

“And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up; if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.” -1 Corinthians 15:14-19 (NKJV)

But if the story is true, then this world has been hit with extraordinary news of earth-shaking consequences. Have you taken the trouble to decide which it is?

In a matter this weighty, it is in your interest to explore the truth or falsity of Christ's claims. Amazingly however, many people who don't believe have never bothered to explore the evidence in support of Jesus,[1] but to the contrary, often run away from it. At the same time, many Christians themselves are not sure, at bottom, whether the claims of their faith are solid. Is the Christian claim a hoax? Is it just wishful thinking? Or is it actually true?

Depends on how you define heresy.

Jews have defined God as being non-corporeal and can never be human for the last 3000+ years. This has caused many problems for them to the point of death for not deviating from this basic belief.

Then if you go to the Christian’s replacement Torah (aka The New Testament) and look up John 4:24 it says the following.

(King James Version)
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

(NASB)
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

(NIV)
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

Even the Renegade Rabbi (aka Jesus, aka Yeshua, etc.) made it pretty clear that he was a separate, distinct and unique individual had a very close relationship with God just like anybody else can and will one day on a large scale. In the first Temple period the spirit of the Torah was followed but not the letter. In the second Temple period the letter of Torah was followed but not the spirit of it. Your rabbi accomplished following it both in spirit and the letter. He encouraged all Israelis to get back to those basics and follow that balanced path. This caused no end of problems to the political and religious establishment that had been Hellenized for quite a while. Think of Hellenized Jews as being similar to those in the GOP-E/Dem parties and those in very Leftist Churches. Hellenistic Judaism was a form of Judaism in the ancient world that combined Jewish religious tradition with elements of Greek culture.

If you look at all of the pagan cultures including the ancient Greeks that God/gods can take human form. Christianity inherited that. Think of it as legacy code in an computer OS.

I know what I have said will ruffle a lot of feathers but basic belief has done so for a very, very, very long time.

So on this issue I am proud to be an FR heretic!

Do you question the Deity of Jesus? Are you looking for an argument? or for answers

I could post scriptures till I’m blue in the face, and it won’t do you any good if your objective is simply to deny the obvious

I'm simply requesting to see the scriptures that you referenced. I think it would be educational and beneficial for all and I promise I won't argue.

My Father and I are One. My Father is in Me and I in My Father. And if you are in Me then My Father that is in Me is also in you. (This is what Communion is all about)

I remember Jesus saying to the Pharisees while quoting the OT scripture.. “Doesn’t your scripture say that you too are Gods?”

People need to understand this concept... If you think of Russian Nesting Dolls where God is the outermost big doll and we are the little doll in the middle, Jesus would be one of the dolls between us and God. We can’t get to God except by going through Jesus. But yet God is in us and so is Jesus. That is why both God & Jesus are omnipresent.

When you go within, you can experience Jesus and God first hand, already here. This is one of the reasons that Jesus said to His disciples when He sent them out...”The things that I do and more, you to shall do in my name.” We truly are capable of much more than most people realize. But when we are able, we have no need to elevate self by proclaiming it to others, except as our Father guides us to use our gift to give validity to His word.

How about we just start with the name the Angels said He would be called... Emanuel... Which means “God With Us”.
That's a pretty weak argument. I mean everyone called Emanuel before or since is . . . what??

Appropriate considering the season, and the Gospels where this is found.
What season is it? Winter soltice season? Is Christmas a Scriptural holiday? Quote book, chapter and verse please. Did Jesus (Our Example) celebrate Christmas?? His Apostles??

I think it does. Modern Judaism comes directly from the Pharisee movement, as did Jesus. One is flawed, the other not? Interesting.

You folks are so silly... Don’t just argue with each other like to professors both trying to support their own identity by convincing others that their logical theory is correct, jump in and experience Christ. He is real and so is His Father.

It is interesting that when you go within and look toward God, at first all you see is light. This is for the same reason that Neals Bohr, the Dutch Atomic Physicist who discovered the atomic structure and electron orbitals found that when an electron goes from an outer orbital to an inner orbital it gives off Light..... Consciousness does the same thing. It’s the reason we see light around the saints... I see this around ministers when they are truly allowing God to speak through them.

This is why God is Light...... When you raise yourself to a higher level within by cleansing your soul, you too can become light to others. A better conduit for God’s Will.

Just a few other tidbits.... When you go within, you too begin to realize that other people exist within your soul and we are all one. The mechanics of the soul are relatively simple when you see it physically. Interesting thing is how close it resembles atomic structure on a higher scale...

When two souls marry and become one it is very similar to a covalent bond.

When a single individual reaches toward God to find what is missing within, it is very similar to an ionic bond.

Just as electrons in an orbital spin in opposite directions, so does the masculine and feminine aspect of the soul.

There are so many things that appear to be the same that it just blows me away. Experience it as it is real....

>>>>I mean everyone called Emanuel before or since is . . .what??

Misnamed by their parents.

>>> What season is it? Winter soltice season? Is Christmas a Scriptural holiday?

The fact that Christmas is not a scriptural holiday is irrelevant. The gospels begin with the Christmas story as we celebrate it.

As for the test I referenced, it is in 1st John:

1Jo 4:1

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

Your responses have answered my first question.
Your objectives appear clear.
I am not interested in arguing scriptures with you.
Let me know in private when you are looking for answers.

In the meantime, take a good look at post 13.
It has lots of scriptures referenced.

I think it does.

Well I guess that settles it right there. You could write books and volumes on the differences of two branches of ideologies and never address the issue that was brought up on guilt. But what difference does that make as long as you thrall us with your acumen?

Hydrazine, you’re too flammable, maybe even poisonous. Gyromitra esculenta, the false more, contains Gyromitrin, a chemical which contains small amounts of N-methyl-N-formyl hydrazine, a substance very similar to rocket fuel and a very strong carcinogen. Better think twice before taking your advice. Just a thought.

Yeppers like any observant Jewish man is whether 2000 years ago or today. The times change but the story stays the same.

From a Kabbalistic perspective men are created with three less body parts than women making us not as perfect as women.

In order to make up for problem a Jewish man does the three following...

1. Study the Torah,
2. Tefila (prayer),
3. and Mitzvot (acts of kindness, good deeds per the Torah)

The Renegade Rabbi did all three both by the letter of Torah as well as by the spirit. By doing so he was loved and hated for it.

No “thralling” intended, sir. Though I do wonder other things, such as why Jesus made the Lord’s Prayer so universal in scope. And why he gave fealty to The Law.

But I will say this: America could never have been founded without Jesus’ example. And that’s no small thing.
