A reader sent the following. Cardinal Meisner of Cologne gave an interview to Deutschlandrundfunk.
You might be interested in this interview with Cardinal Meisner:
In his third answer, he says the following (its my translation in English, probably very bad):
At my last meeting with Pope Francis, I had the opportunity to talk very open to him about a lot of things. And I told him that some questions remain unanswered in his style of spreading the gospel through interviews and short speeches, questions which need some extended explanation for people who are not so involved. The pope looked at me with big eyes and asked me to give an example. And my response was : During the flight back from Rio you were asked about people who divorced and remarried. And the pope responded frankly: People who are divorced can receive communion, people who are remarried cant. In the orthodox church you can marry twice. And then he talked about mercy, which, according to my view, is seen in this country only as a surrogate for all human faults. And the pope responded quite bluntly that hes a son of the church, and he doesnt proclaim anything else than the teachings of the church. And mercy has to be identical with truth if not, she doesnt deserve that name. Furthermore, when there are open theological questions, its up to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to give detailed responses.
From this we can perhaps glean that Pope Francis may not be entirely aware of the havoc (¿lío?) that some of his home-spun, off-the-cuff comments in the mainstream media have caused.
It would be interesting to see His Holiness reaction to the story about the Catholic school kids in Seattle protesting in favor of some homosexual thing while citing the phrase Who am I to judge. The same for catholic politicians in Illinois citing the same when they passed same-sex marriage.
However, Pope Francis confirmed what I have been saying all along. He is not going to change the Churchs teachings (as if he could). Divorced and remarried? No Communion.
Furthermore, Francis stressed the role of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He doesnt sound like someone who wants to devolve the role of the Congregation to regional conferences.
I like Francis’s style. I enjoy seeing the modernists and other leftists and satanists given hope that they have prevailed over God and the Church only to be discombobulated when they read the whole sentence instead of just taking off with the first phrase so to speak.
No problem...Help yerself...
Go for it...Eat all the wafers you want...
C’mon in...We have plenty of room...Help yourself to the ‘real’ pressense...
Wife dumped you because you would not do drugs and get drunk and was abusing your kids???
So you divorced and remarried a good Christian woman???
Well shame on you, you derelict...May God forever spit in your coffee...
I seem to see in verses shortly following it forgiveness, for G-d will not remain angry forever.
“In those days the people of Judah will join the people of Israel, and together they will come from a northern land to the land I gave your ancestors as an inheritance.”
“Anyone opposed to divorce is welcome to spend a week with my ex-wife and then get back to me.
What did she do, post an excerpt from her blog?
lol good one
Yes, forgiveness after repentance. We are not there yet.
I submit that the reestablishment of Israel is evidence, if needed, that there has been repentence.
I have been told that the reestablishment of Israel was a divine miracle, in response to divine prophecy.
Now it might not be, but that is the tough thing about prophecy: if you write it down after it comes true, then it is less convincing. If you write it down before it comes true, and people work because of that to make it true, then it is less convincing.
To be really convincing you need to have a double blind: You have to make the prediction in the dark, then independently make the measurement. Like Schrodinger’s cat.
