I don’t see it that way. In my experience, the atheist argues against the existence of God. While this is technically a belief as are most thoughts, it’s primarily a rejection of thoughts held by others. Atheists assert the non-existence of an intangible concept experienced and shared by others.

Have you heard of Sam Harris? He's probably the most renowned of the currently active anti-theist intellectuals. He regularly infuriates the left by attacking Islam, believing it to be a greater threat to women, reason, and modernity than Christianity.

Well old Sam has that right, sort of like the blind squirrel or the stopped clock.
