Vatican Denies Pope Is Open To Recognition of Gay Civil Unions

By Philip Pullella VATICAN CITY — The Vatican on Sunday denied Italian media reports that recent comments by Pope Francis signaled his openness to the legal recognition of same-sex unions in Italy.

Francis, in a conversation with leaders of religious orders published by a Jesuit journal on Friday, said the Catholic Church had to try not to scare away children who live in complex family situations, such as those whose parents were separated and those living with gay couples.

Francis gave the example of a little girl in Buenos Aires, his former diocese, who confided to her teacher the reason she was always sad was that "my mother's girlfriend doesn't like me."

The pope told the leaders of religious orders that a great challenge for the Church would be to reach out to children living in difficult or unorthodox domestic situations.

"The situation in which we live now provides us with new challenges which sometimes are difficult for us to understand," the pope said, according to the transcript of the conversation.

"How can we proclaim Christ to these boys and girls? How can we proclaim Christ to a generation that is changing? We must be careful not to administer a vaccine against faith to them," he said.

"MANIPULATION" Italian media on Sunday ran headlines saying the pope's words were an opening to legal provision for civil unions for gay couples, a subject of debate in Italy. Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi told Vatican Radio that media interpretations were "paradoxical" and a "manipulation" of the pope's words, particularly as some media quoted him as speaking specifically of homosexual unions, which he did not.

Renew America - Randy Engel column
Vatican hires world’s leading pro-homosexual corporations as advisors

Randy Engel
January 1, 2014
Introduction

In their efforts to bring “transparency” and “efficiency” and “financial reform” to the Government of the Vatican City State (the “Governatorato”), Vatican officials have managed to completely ignore the lack of moral credentials of the mega firms they have hired to carry out these tasks including the world’s top pro-lesbian, “gay,” bisexual, transgender (LGBT) consulting firm of Ernest & Young, now formally known as EY. [1] Nor, apparently, did Ernest & Young officers volunteer this information before signing their formal contract with the Vatican to seal their lucrative consultation deal. Nor, apparently, did the leaders of the Homosexual Collective Internationale feel constrained to publicly denounce this well-advertised, but incredulous business arrangement between the alleged “homophobic” Roman Catholic Church and the London-based corporate giant of Ernest & Young, the world’s most “gay friendly” employer.

When will this Pope learn to be cautious with his remarks?

Good question. He doesn’t have the scholarly discipline of the German pontiff or the theologian’s caution of John Paul II. His work is pastoral, and culturally speaking Latin-Americans have a loosey-goosey way with language and this may be affecting his communications.

When will this Pope learn to be cautious with his remarks?

When will the Devil's minions learn to stop twisting words to fit their sick agenda?

In this case, I think he was absolutely right. This is a problem: should we deny the Gospel to people who, through no fault of their own, have been brought up in an “irregular” circumstance?

No. And we shouldn’t deny it to their “parents,” either, because nobody knows what was behind this. However, people have to repent of anything that is a sin and promise not to return to it...and Pope Francis has been better than any pope on preaching repentance, confession and forgiveness.

We can’t condemn kids for their parents’ confusion, because normally, it’s not ill-will - it’s just confusion, enhanced by a confused society during a time when the Church had abandoned morality. Francis wants to bring it back, but not to punish those who went astray, and instead, to welcome them back.

Did you read the original post?

He is saying that homosexual, same-sex marriages, whatever you want to call them are NOT condoned by the Pope or the Vatican.

The title even tells you: Vatican Denies Pope Is Open To Recognition of Gay Civil Unions [Media Manipulation Exposed]

This is media spin. It is not what the Pope said.

I did read the article. I chose not to comment about the issue posted
but to express my opinion about a recent issue with this pope.
His Marxism.

Great, we got a pope and his administration that’s taking it’s cue from the Obama Administration. Obfuscate, confuse and deny, but keep pressing for certain unpopular social reforms.

The Pope's words as originally reported in La Civilità Cattolica (the paragraph that started this controversy. Please note that text that is within quotes below is actually attributed to the Holy Father; the remainder of the text are words from the article's author):

The pillars of education according to the Pope are: “convey understanding, convey ways of doing things, convey values. Faith is conveyed through these. The educator should be up to being a person who educates, he or she should consider how to proclaim Jesus Christ to a generation that is changing.” He insisted, therefore: “Education today is a key, key, key mission!” And he recalled some of his experiences in Buenos Aires regarding the preparation necessary to welcome children in an educational context, little boys and girls, young adults who live in complex situations, especially family ones: “I remember the case of a very sad little girl who finally confided to her teacher the reason for her state of mind: ‘my mother’s fiancé doesn’t like me.’ The percentage of children studying in schools who have separated parents is very high. The situation in which we live now provides us with new challenges which sometimes are difficult for us to understand. How can we proclaim Christ to these boys and girls? How can we proclaim Christ to a generation that is changing? We must be careful not to administer a vaccine against faith to them.

And before anybody gets too up in arms, you should all recall the position he took 3 years ago on sodomite unions:

The identity of the family, and its survival, are in jeopardy here: father, mother, and children. The life of so many children who will be discriminated beforehand due to the lack of human maturity that God willed them to have with a father and a mother is in jeopardy. A clear rejection of the law of God, engraved in our hearts, is in jeopardy.

I recall words of Saint Thérèse when she speaks of the infirmity of her childhood. She says that the envy of the Devil tried to extort her family after her older sister joined the Carmel. Here, the envy of the Devil, through which sin entered the world, is also present, and deceitfully intends to destroy the image of God: man and woman, who receive the mandate to grow, multiply, and conquer the earth. Let us not be naive: it is not a simple political struggle; it is an intention [which is] destructive of the plan of God. It is not a mere legislative project (this is a mere instrument), but rather a "move" of the father of lies who wishes to confuse and deceive the children of God.

The short memory of leftists doesn't surprise me. The short memory of some conservatives gives me pause.

Is it really media manipulation?

I get the feeling libs are misled by their own wishful thinking about the inevitability of “progress”.
