(Vatican Radio) After the Angelus on Sunday, Pope Francis announced the names of those who will be created Cardinals at the upcoming situation.

Below, please find the full text of the Holy Father’s announcement:

As was previously announced, on February 22, the Feast of the Chair of Peter, I will have the joy of holding a Consistory, during which I will name 16 new Cardinals, who, coming from 12 countries from every part of the world, represent the deep ecclesial relationship between the Church of Rome and the other Churches throughout the world. The following day [February 23] I will preside at a solemn concelebration with the new Cardinals, while on February 20 and 21 I will hold a Consistory with all the Cardinals to reflect on the theme of the family.

Here are the names of the new Cardinals:

Pietro Parolin, Titular Archbishop of Acquapendente, Secretary of State
Lorenzo Baldisseri, Titular Archbishop of Diocleziana, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops.
Gerhard Ludwig Műller, Archbishop-Bishop emeritus of Regensburg, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Beniamino Stella, Titular Archbishop of Midila, Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy.
Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster (Great Britain).
Leopoldo José Brenes Solórzano, Archbishop of Managua (Nicaragua).
Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec (Canada).
Jean-Pierre Kutwa, Archbishop of Abidjan (Ivory Coast).
Orani João Tempesta, O.Cist., Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Gualtiero Bassetti, Archbishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve (Italy).
Mario Aurelio Poli, Archbishop of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Andrew Yeom Soo jung, Archbishop of Seoul (Korea).
Ricardo Ezzati Andrello, S.D.B., Archbishop of Santiago del Cile (Chile).
Philippe Nakellentuba Ouédraogo, Archbishop of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
Orlando B. Quevedo, O.M.I., Archbishop of Cotabato (Philippines).
Chibly Langlois, Bishop of Les Cayes (Haïti).

Together with them, I will join to the Members of the College of Cardinals three Archbishops emeriti distinguished for their service to the Holy See and to the Church.

They are:

Loris Francesco Capovilla, Titular Archbishop of Mesembria.
Fernando Sebastián Aguilar, C.M.F., Archbishop emeritus of Pamplona.
Kelvin Edward Felix, Archbishop emeritus of Castries.

Let us pray for the new Cardinals, that vested in the virtues and the sentiments of the Lord Jesus, the Good Shepherd, they might be able to help more effectively the Bishop of Rome in his service to the universal Church.

Observations on the new Cardinals-elect

From Vatican Radio

(Vatican Radio) In the wake of Pope Francis’ eagerly anticipated announcement of the names of the new Cardinals, the Director of the Press Office of the Holy See, Father Federico Lombardi, SJ, offered the following observations:

The Pope has adhered to the rule of 120 Cardinals under 80 years of age who will be eligible to vote in a papal election. Currently there were 13 seats “vacant”; 3 others will be “vacant” by the end of May. So the Pope has chosen 16 electors.

Of the 16 eligible to vote, 4 are members of the Curia (i.e., ¼ of the total) and 12 are residential archbishops or bishops, all from different countries .

The distribution of electors who are residential prelates is well distributed among the different continents: Two from Europe, three from North and Central America, three from South America, two from Africa, and two from Asia.

The choice of Cardinals of Burkina Faso and Haiti shows concern for people struck by poverty.

Two residential prelates were chosen from places not traditionally considered Cardinalatial Sees (namely, Perugia in Italy, and Cotabato on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines).

Among the Cardinals who are not electors, one should notice Archbishop Capovilla, the secretary of Pope John XXIII (who will soon be canonized during the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council).

Archbishop Capovilla, aged 98, is the oldest of the Cardinals-elect; the youngest, Bishop Langlois (55 years old).

And from the Daily Mail: The Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nichols, has said he is ‘humbled’ to be appointed a cardinal by the Pope.

What is your opinion on the others?

I have no opinion on the others. But I have an opinion about Francis’s ability to judge character. He has none. His closest friends and advisers in the American hierarchy are sodomites (Wuerl) and lamebrains (O’Mally).

I’m glad, Father, that you are willing to frankly state that Wuerl is a homosexual. I met him and realized he was homosexual, as well as being entirely corrupt and dishonest in his dealings with Fr. Marcel Guarnizo.

Wuerl is a notorious active homosexual. I have read it from reliable sources, and heard it directly from priests who know. His homosexual acting-out was known to one and all at the Pittsburgh seminary where he was rector for years.

This is without question the main reason he insists that pro-abortion politicians must be given Communion. (And, as we now know, aggressive lesbians.) One word from Nancy Pelosi, and the lamestream media would have permission to splash this all over their front pages and broadcasts. She and all the other pro-abortion “Catholics” in Congress have Wuerl over a barrel, not that I think this bothers Wuerl any.

This is why I expect nothing much from this Pope. He is no judge of character. He complains about “smarmy” or “unctuous” priests who have no faith, and promotes the pope of ooze to the Congregation for Bishops—where he will undoubtedly promote as many sodomites as he can to wreak havoc and vengeance on the Church.

I shall never forget when my diocese sent out crates of Wuerl’s videos to accompany the catechism he didn’t write.

Almost the first words out of his mouth were, “God reveals Godself to us.”

Yuck.

I never showed another one of his videos to laypeople again. I used the tapes to record episodes of “The Simpsons.”

Cardinal O'Malley protects and promotes priests in his archdiocese who advance the gay agenda. He assigns saboteur priests to wreckovate formerly orthodox parishes. The "lamebrains" excuse is a convenient cover. His agenda is unmistakable. Perhaps it was his influence as one of the pope's close advisors that led to the selection of Wuerl. In his choice of Wuerl and O'Malley, the pope has selected two unmitigated wolves who have a lot in common.

Just a couple of examples of the ongoing depravity in the Archdiocese of Boston:

Is it a poor judge of character or does Francis agree with Wuerl’s promotion of the gay agenda?

It certainly would shed light on his “Who am I to judge?” comment.

As Archbishop, Bergoglio said that the campaign for gay civil unions and gay marriage came from Satan. That’s not so “gay-friendly.”

I am more inclined to believe that he just doesn’t know who these Cardinals (Wuerl, O’Malley, Dolan) really are, and doesn’t know what’s going on in America.

Wouldn’t getting to know who these Cardinals are be the most important thing to do prior to offering them such important positions? It’s pretty hard for me to believe that he doesn’t know who they are.

John Paul II used to be presented with the dossiers on the three nominees for bishop. (This is traditional.) Instead of reading the dossiers, he would simply take the one on the top and sign it.

He dismissed all reports on the wickedness of Maciel.

Considering that Francis has preached against “gossip” in the Vatican, I can imagine him dismissing all he might hear about the sodomite Wuerl. If he even hears anything negative.

Washington will have to suffer only two more years under Wuerl, but there is no indication that this Pope will appoint someone better.
