I have been present at the ordination of a Baptist preacher, and if there's one thing that is stressed (among others, of course) it is the personal state and accountability of the preacher

All of TITUS is used, among many OTHER scriptures, but chapter 1 is a start;

Titus 1
King James Version (KJV)

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

A man doesn't even GET to an ordination ceremony unless and until he has proven and BEEN proven in personal matters.

Interesting... Don’t be like hypocrites, huh? You mean like the Church allowing scum like Pelosi or Kennedy to receive Communion? Or is there a different definition of hypocrisy you’re working from?

questions: Was the Torah the word of God? Are its commandments God’s commandments?

Me: also be like Jesus who believed in property rights and free exchange, which is the capitalist system:

He gave the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard (Matthew 20) which is full of free market principles, from freedom to contract, to freedom to negotiate a wage, to respect for the property of another.

It ends with a rhetorical question that destroys socialism: “Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with my own?” (Matthew 20:15)

Christians reject the Torah and don’t believe it’s the Word. Instead, they follow Pauline Christianity, which cherry picks the Word and turned it into a brand-new religion with little in common with the teachings of the Torah.

Was this story ok? Did they distort what he said? Did they mangle his intent? How can we know?

Including the 613 commandments, which are based and validated (personally I think they are just re-wording of ) by the Petateuch ... I'd say ... yes.

No less so than all the "bible versions" running around today.

Some say KJV only ... others NIV, or NKJV or ASV ...

The old testament is the bones, the new is the flesh ...you need it all, in total context with the other to understand the word

**Being Christians like Jesus, “with the zeal to seek people, heal people, to love people” and “not purely legalistic and hypocrites like the scribes and Pharisees. **

And, in loving them, we will encourage them to work, and rejoice in the glow of their self worth and accomplishment.

We will not enslave the in government programs, delivering a life of dependency and waste of their human potential and dignity.

Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition of man.... He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: ...these people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me. But in vain they do worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.... And you do many things like that.

Throw away the commandments of men: the catechism, the book of mormans and the koran and renew your mind according to the Word of God or continue to be 'religious' pawns for satan's sake. HONOR God and shame the devil/man.
