Chris Matthews giddily welcomed HBO's Bill Maher of Real Time With Bill Maher to his MSNBC show Tuesday and mentioned how much he "loves" being a guest with the liberal comedian and commentator.
Acknowledging that Bill Maher is an atheist, Matthews delved into religion and brought up Pope Francis. Matthews claimed the Pope has "struck a cord" even with President Obama since he plans on commenting on "income inequality" during his State of the Union this month.
Maher responded,
Right well he keeps shaking things up in a way we have never really seen a pope do. I mean, he just appointed a bunch of new Cardinals which is kind of a Pope's way of redistricting.
Matthews laughed and then Maher continued, saying he thinks people in the Vatican "must be going nuts",
...He keeps saying things that must just blow their minds! The first thing he said when that, when he got into office was that atheists get into heaven! You know when he said that they were like, 'We gotta prepare the poison now!'
The Pope's alleged comments regarding how atheists will get into heaven have been debunked by many as taken out of context. After Matthews wondered aloud if the Pope's comments and actions are bringing people back to Catholicism, Bill Maher said,
I think ultimately maybe his goal is to kinda bring it down.

"Atheist" the word, or the concept, is never used in the bible.
Psalm 14:1 The FOOL has said in his heart there is no God...
There are fools but no atheists.

Clearly Maher is an expert on all matters religious - he who has no experience with that of which he speaks at length.

How did Maher get to be famous? Was he a comic or something?

was that atheists get into heaven!
During his illness I prayed repeatedly that Christopher Hitchens would somehow make it. God's mercy is his to distribute as he wishes.

I wonder what made Bill so angry at everything.
His ego is constantly on the verge of collapsing from worry that his lack of talent will finally be noticed.
Granted, most of my impressions come from his minimal acting roles that dragged down the films, and his anti-American spewing.
Although, with this pope, he may be on to something, but I would have expected him [Maher] to be silently cheering, not bringing it out into the open.

It is the general axiom that most libs are angry, sad people while most conservatives are relatively happy (outside our laments of our government).

I wonder what made Bill so angry at everything. He gives every indication of 'Tiny D*ck Syndrome'. Mainly because he's got such a tiny one he overcompensates by being a really big d*ck!

Good idea. Always difficult to pray for the difficulty causing people.

Who’s that on the toast? Larry Fine?
I just wish the Pope would stop violating the Tenth Commandment. ‘Must be a little light on that one.
