In his opening remarks at the House Judiciarys Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations on Tuesday, Chairman Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said that Christian persecution is worse now in Iraq than it was before the United States military and its allies deposed dictator Saddam Hussein.
As we witness the black flag of al-Qaeda again fly over cities such as Fallujah, which we had won at the cost of so much American blood, we wonder how it is that for Christians in Iraq, life appears to be worse now than it was under the vicious dictator Saddam Hussein, Smith said.
Hussein was captured in 2003 then tried by the interim government and found guilty of crimes against humanity.

Good for him! He’s been telling the truth about LIFE for 40 years.
Time for Bushie Republicans to pay the price for destroying the ancient Christians who lived in Iraq for 2000 years.
I mean in political terms. (Their afterlife is assured)
Reason, "Saddam trusted Christians not to kill him which he knew his murderous Muslim 'friends' would do at the drop of a hat, that's how he came to power," George Sada, Air Force general under Saddam who escaped and lived to tell tales of what happened to Saddam's WMD!
Because even George W Bush never said a word about the persecuted Christians or tried to get amnesty for them, just ignored his supposed “brothers in Christ”. 10 years and hardly anyone says a word. Now we’re giving amnesty to terrorists and no one says anything either.
Little George was told by JP2 exactly what would happen if he went ahead with his boneheaded attack on Iraq. He was told all the Christians that would be murdered. He didn’t care. George of Arabia was bound and determined to overthrow Iraq and get into the nation-building nonsense. He was a “war president” who went to work with “war on his mind”. Now the big-earred Kenyan Kid carries on in the warmongering tradition of his half-brother little George. Musical chairs in the White House, but nothing ever changes.
Congressman Smith is my representative. His voting record leaves much to be desired, but hey, it’s Jersey...the alternative would be so much worse.
All sorts of Iraqis say that - “we were better off under Sadaam” - but for the Christians, it is a terrible loss of their whole community. And now, they can’t even run to Syria any more, where many were refugees, because foreign forces have started up the same music there.
