Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Charles Jennens combined two Scriptures for the Magnificent Opening of ACT 3. It is hard to Follow the ending of ACT 2 (the Hallelujah Chorus) but Handel takes care of it Beautifully.

The first Scripture, from the Book of Job, is remarkable, as it speaks of God as a LIVING REDEEMER. Many Biblical Scholars consider Job to be the oldest Book in the Bible. So here is an Ancient Man, Before the Torah, Before the Law, Before Judaism or Christianity, and AFTER going through horrendous suffering, declaring God His Redeemer, and KNOWING that He is a LIVING God, not a man-made idol of stone or wood.

The Second Scripture presents the words of St. Paul in his Letter to the Church in Corinth. Paul's argument for the Resurrection is that "religion" is pointless if we do not believe in a LIVING GOD.
