The founder of liberation theology, the Latin American-inspired Catholic theology advocating for the poor, received a hero’s welcome Tuesday at the Vatican as the once-criticized movement continues its rehabilitation under Pope Francis. The Rev. Gustavo Gutierrez of Peru was the surprise speaker Tuesday at a book launch featuring the head of the Vatican’s orthodoxy office, Cardinal Gerhard Mueller; one of Francis’ top advisers, Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga; and the Vatican spokesman.

“the Latin American-inspired Catholic theology advocating for the poor”

the writer is proficient at stating the obvious while denying the truth

Liberation theology is nothing other than the Marxist dialtectic written into the Christian message, period.

Now, I suppose we are supposed to be surprised of this Marxist hero’s welcome at the Vatican. I’m not.

The lefty Roman Catholics I know absolutely love Pope Francis.

As a Roman Catholic I continue to have my doubts....

A civil war within the Church continues to grow...

The one Catholic I trust above all others is my mother. She always warned about Jesuits.

The Pope is not queer. Just because the media is doing a great job falsely characterizing him as a big, hippie, Commie does not mean he deserves to be slandered.

As for Obama, no idea.

“As a Roman Catholic I continue to have my doubts....”

Nothing I have read about this pope inspires any confidence at all.

As for liberation theology, I’d advise the Vatican to be cautious, there’s plenty to be “liberated” in their coffers.

But, like all commies everywhere, their own wealth is cool, it’s the other guy who’s underserving.

FWIW, the story before he was elected Pope was that Francis had a strong record in opposition to Liberation Theology. Of course, that’s just what was said about him, I don’t know it directly.

Also, the Pope doesn’t seem to have invited this guy to be an honored speaker. Gerhard Mueller did. This wouldn’t be the first time that the press pretended that “the Vatican” was interchangeable with “the Pope.”

That said, I confess I really don’t know what to make of this guy. But I am less hopeful than I was at first that he might broom out the troublemakers in the Vatican. It would take a strong and determined Pope to do that. PJP II and Benedict XVI were evidently unable to do it, although their intentions were good.

And it’s also the reason why the Evangelical churches have spread so far. Why go to a church that says you must be poor, when you can go to a church that says the Lord wants you to prosper?

POPE FRANCIS, MARXISM AND LIBERATION THEOLOGY.

Pope describes as “mistaken” the Marxist ideology.

From “mistaken” to “intrinsically perverse” goes a long way. A mistake that has cost more than 150 million human beings sacrificed at the altar of this evil ideology.

Pope Francis describes Marxism just as “mistaken”, in a dramatic contrast with the doctrine of the Church that has defined it as “intrinsically perverse” in the Encyclical “Divini Redemptoris” of Pius XI over atheistic communism published in 1937, an ideology unequivocally condemned by the Magisterium since the end of the 19th century to Benedict XVI.

That soft position of Pope Francisco vs. the Marxist penetration of The Church explains the great joy of the founders and proponents of the Marxist Liberation theology when he was chosen as the Vicar of Christ on Earth.

The “Liberation Theology” was condemned by Juan Pablo II in the “Instruction on certain aspects of the theology of liberation”, promulgated by his order by the prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the doctrine of the faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, later elected as Pope Benedict XVI.

In opening the Vatican doors to the Marxist promoters, Pope Francis is disregarding the Magisterium of the Church.

‘Try, venerable brethren, with care that the faithful do not be fooled. Communism is intrinsically evil, and cannot accept that they collaborate with communism, in any field, those who want to save Christian civilization from the ruin. And if some, misled the, cooperate for the establishment of communism in their own countries, they will be the first to pay the penalty of their error; and the more ancient and luminous is the civilization created by Christianity in the Nations in which Communism managed to penetrate, the greater the devastation that they will exercise the hatred of Communist atheism.”(Pius XI, Divine Redemptory’s)

“Would be illusory and dangerous to get to forget the intimate bond that unites them radically, accept the Marxist analysis elements without recognizing its relations with ideology, entering the practice of the fight of classes and its Marxist interpretation leaving perceive the kind of totalitarian society which leads this process “” . ‘ (Pablo VI, Octogesima adveniens, 1971)

Pope Francis is NOT in favor of Liberation Theology, no matter how much the media tries to make it seem that he is.

Francis wrote the preface of Mueller’s book, Poor for the Poor: The Mission of the Church, which contains two chapters written by Gutierrez.

These kind of comments and pure calumny come from Satan and not of God. Pope Francis has spoken out repeatedly against communism, Marxism and other forms of authoritarian governments. And he has never adopted any position contrary to the Church’s teaching on homosexual conduct and so-called lifestyle. You should be ashamed. But given the depravity of your comments, shame isn’t part of your lexicon.

Liberation theology is nothing other than the Marxist dialtectic written into the Christian message, period.

Yes, it's simply marxism minus atheism, yet its worldly orientation tends to undermine the Christian message. Liberation "theology" is a misnomer, as it is a humanist rather than theological concept. The "preferential option for the poor" is leftist political ideology masquerading as Christian charity. Marxism, unlike capitalism, is intrinsically and therefore irreformably evil, even when furnished with an ecclesiastical veneer.

Disgraceful!
