Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Trees of The Bible

Exodus 2

Bulrushes/Papyrus

The Birth of Moses

1 Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, 2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. 3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. 4 His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

5 Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. 6 She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said.

7 Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?”

8 “Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. 9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Almighty God,
Blessed is Your Most Holy Name!
Your Alone Are Worthy of Our Worship,
For You Alone Are The One True God,
And You Alone Are Our Hope and Our Salvation!
You Know The End from The Beginning
And The Beginning From The End.
You Control the Times and The Seasons,
You Created Us,
And we Are The Sheep of Your Pasture.

LORD,We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.
We pray for peace to flow like Living Water
From the One True Rock and Redeemer.
Like Cool Refreshing Water
From the Stricken Rock in the Desert,
Refresh Your People Israel,
And give them rest from their enemies,
who press in from all sides.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Study of "Trees in The Bible" takes an odd turn as we go to Exodus. While papyrus can hardly be called a "Tree", it is very much a part of the Story of Redemption.

There are very few trees in Egypt, but Lots of Papyrus. Bundled together, the long sturdy stalks had amazing strength and could be used as logs, pillars, and support beams for buildings. Large boats could be made from Papyrus bundles. An even cursory look at the huge stone columns of Egyptian Architecture reveals that shape and style that imitates these Pillars of Bundled Bulrushes.

The little Ark that was used to save Moses was made of Papyrus, the "wood" of Ancient Egypt. It was made watertight with pitch, lined inside and out, just like Noah's Ark. Noah's Ark was made of "Gopher" Wood, Moses' Ark was made of papyrus, and the Future Ark of the Covenant will be made of Acacia Wood.

Papyrus was also used to make a WONDERFUL Invention which we now call "PAPER" (after "Papyrus!"). The earliest known scrolls and codices (books) of the Scriptures are written on Papyrus, as well as the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Gospels. As we look upon Our Scriptures in electronic media, we can easily forget the wonder and preciousness of PAPER!

Come and Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Own Beloved USA.

We are thankful for papyrus - which record the Word.

Some thoughts come to mind on reeds, where Moses was hidden. One of the prophesies of the Messiah: A bruised reed shall He not break ...

Lifting up Israel, our beloved America, and all of God’s people.

I had the blessed opportunity to see with my own eyes the Dead Sea Scrolls on display in Israel in 2012. How assuring is it that the LORD always keep a remnant among all things to Glorify His Name, most endearing, a remnant of HIS PEOPLE Israel. Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem, for a vast remnant of believers to come even this day, for our own nation that a remnant of faithful hearts will Honor Him, for our friends and families, for the persecuted throughout the nations. Amen.
