Make that title [New vs. Old Evangelization].

In the ancient world, the people who needed to be evangelized were outside the walls of the Church; today they include thousands who are inside, but who think just like those who are outside. When the Gospel is proclaimed, they complain.

Thanks for posting this perceptive article. While its broadbrushing gets heavy at times, it is very useful to generalize in order to make the contrasts it focuses on. There is no subject more worthy of careful study and problem-solving.

The world is full of the whole spectrum of beliefs, and our Lord, through His church, is engaging with all of them. Recently, the pace of conversion has quickened dramatically--of course, not as much in the post-Christian western world--and we can see, and join with and support, many excellent efforts, new and old. As the author was quick to assert, "The same Christ knocks at the door of the same human heart..."
