Pope Francis dropped an F-bomb during his Sunday prayer at St. Peter's Square

“If each one of us does not amass riches only for oneself, but half for the service of others, in this f–k [pause], in this case the providence of God will become visible through this gesture of solidarity,” Francis said to the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, Italian media reported.

Oops. A mistake like that would be enough to piss off a Pope.

Reminds me of the so called first Pope when they asked him if he knew Jesus Christ....

“Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.” ( MATTHEW 26:74 ).

But the question is why was the Pope speaking in English?

RE: So much for infallibility

The man wasn’t speaking ex-cathedra at that time.

But why was he speaking in English?

“His Holiness meant to use the Italian word for “example,” which is “caso.”

Instead, he used the word “cazzo,” which Italians use as a synonym for the four-letter obscenity.”

Please, please. Relax.

This is not what El Pope said. This is an error by the Vatican Job Placement Translation team. They are still learning. They have no credentials. Just weeks ago, they were homeless and living on the streets of Rome.

I also want to point out that the “mainstream media is against our Pope!!!!!!!” They are distorting everything.

Then the crowd when silent, and you heard a shout of “Bambino l’buia”, which translates to “Bababooey!”.

Since he does not speak English, I’m not sure how he could be swearing in English.

I correct myself. It was an Italian F-bomb.

Wonder how it sounds like in Italian...

RE: Since he does not speak English, I’m not sure how he could be swearing in English.

It was an Italian equivalent of the English F-bomb translated into English.

For all, he wasn't speaking in English. He was speaking in Italian. The words look to be pronounced almost the same. No grownup Catholic pretends that the Pope is impeccable.

Through no fault of the poster, the article is overwhelmingly misleading. The story reads as if the Pooe actually uttered the EFF word but is really hardly the case.

The story is a sensation only if you speak Italian and realize the similarity in the pronunciation of the words intended to be spoken.

FTA:
His Holiness meant to use the Italian word for “example,” which is “caso.”

Instead, he used the word “cazzo,” which Italians use as a synonym for the four-letter obscenity.

If His Holiness was speaking his native Spanish, I could understand. While speaking a second language with two words that are so very close in their pronunciation, the brief stumble is easy to understand. Of course, papal infallibility does not mean that popes don’t make mistakes or stumbles.

caso.vs cazzo

That’s not an F-Bomb, that’s a verbal time bomb that could go off on any non-native speaker of Italian.
