HARVARD As organizers of the St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Boston work to ease a two-decade ban on gay organizations, the longtime principal of a Catholic school here has maintained his position not to condone the homosexual lifestyle and says the school will not participate in the March 16 event.
Immaculate Heart of Mary School, at the Saint Benedict Center, has marched in 24 parades in South Boston.
The Grades 1-12 school provided a float depicting the culture and faith of Irish people around the central figure of St. Patrick, Principal Brother Thomas Dalton said.
Boston Mayor Martin Walsh and parade organizers recently negotiated a tentative deal to allow the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group MassEquality to march in the parade. But they won't be permitted to wear T-shirts or hold signs that include the word gay or refer to sexual orientation. Some factions have objected to that stipulation.
A MassEquality spokesman said Executive Director Kara Coredini had no comment about the school's decision, saying she was focused on negotiations with parade organizers.

People should pull out of participating and not watch it. Let them march alone. Same goes for any event that HAS to include them.
People can either take a stand or sit down and shut up. Simple really.
They made the right decision. Exposing kids to these people would be a form of abuse.
You can kiss this parade goodbye, because next year they'll demand to hold the signs and wear the pants with the butt pockets torn out, and this stupid Mayor will cave.
The homosexual rights/marriage movement has nothing to do with equality or freedom. It's just another way for the progressive leftists to undermine our traditions and values and homos just happen to be one of the many vehicles used by the Left to meet this objective.
How ironic it would be if all Catholics pulled out of a parade for a Catholic saint.
Excellent. I’m sure the principal is receiving messages from the gay mafia that he’s homophobic.
I don’t understand. What does a St Patrick’s Day
Parade have to do with gay rights at all?
Good, the others should also drop out. Let them parade alone.
Saint Benedict Center. That’s the Feeneyites, isn’t it?
Anyway, how preposterous and revolting that self-proclaimed practitioners of sodomy are welcome in a parade for a saint.
I’m going to have to withdraw from all of society because I will not bend down to the altar of this perversity....
The gay festivals are so family friendly, right?/s
Will the gays show up in drag mocking Catholic traditions? Hope someone takes photos!
St. Patrick would be rolling over in his grave.
If he were in his grave, which he is not.
And if he knew, which he might.
Clarification, He’d roll due to gays marching in his parade.
Not because people who know the scriptures disassociated themselves with the parade.
Dispite all the media hoopla, there just are not that many homos or ‘committed’ supporters compared to the number of us that want their crap out of our faces.
If we collectively would think about that a sec, we’d realize the power we have to stop it. The power of our money. All we have to do is simply stop hiring them, stop buying their products/services and stop patronizing anyone that pushes their crap.
It’s sex. It’s not anything else. It’s not love, it’s not born some way. It’s sex. Would we tolerate a teacher of kindergarten in full leather bondage gear, heels and a whip? Seriously! Would we? That’s just sex too. So why do they get a pass? Why is their sex accepted over all others?
there are more motorcycle club members than homosexuals. There are more gardening enthusiasts than homosexuals. Their recreational activities do not warrant special privileges. So why does the recreational pastime of a homosexual warrant it? That’s all it is. All it can be. So why?
Because we are too scared to stand up for ourselves. And as soon as we do, we will start to take back what we so cavalierly gave away.
I suspect they’ll wear them this year anyway, regardless of what they’ve “agreed” to.
The school was right to pull out, and I hope more organizations abandon the parade. It’s just going to become a gay propaganda event. Look for drag queens dressed as nuns by next year.
The homosexuals destroy yet another time honored tradition.
They are Catholics, but yes, founded by Fr. Feney. I used to go to Mass there when I lived in that area. I’ve never seen them compromise.
