Miranda Lambert came in second on the old Cable show “Nashville Star”, to a singer named Mary Joe or something like that (she was good).

However, Lambert, besides being incredibly attractive, had a better/wider range of singing abilities re the type of music she performed.

I told my wife that Lambert was just as good as the winner if not better, and that she’d be a big star later. I was right and Country Music got a great star.

Country Music Women are among the most beautiful and talented in the music business, and there are more of them. Just to name a few: Martina McBride, Sara Evans, Shania Twain (that woman puts on one helluva show), the lead singer from Sugarland, Gretchen Wilson, one of the Carter girls (Deanna I think), Carrie Underwood (my granddaughter looks a lot like her),etc.

While I also like some of Lady Gaga’s songs, Katy Perry, and one or two other rock/pop singers, they are too wacky in their shows and personal lives for me.

Musical genius? Really?

As a lifelong and still working musician and singer myself, I think I’m qualified to say she’s a good singer with a good voice for country music. But musical genius is quite a stretch.

2 John Arthur Martinez M 41 Marble Falls, Texas Finale (May 3, 2003)

Miranda Lambert came in third but I have to admit I voted for Buddy Jewel.

You sound like Bob Dole talking about himself, “Bob Dole”.

Buddy Jewell was an incredibly likable and compelling guy. He won a lot of votes on that. I was rooting for him. Not sure I took the time to vote. I do remember Miranda in the competition. She was very good. I didn’t realize until a few years ago that she was the one on the show.

“But musical genius is quite a stretch.”

A stretch by 2/3’s anyway.
Co-written by Miranda, Nicolle Gaylon and Natalie Hemby

It’s an ok song about the old days of being young. Typical,
but she can sing, though the southern accent does sound like
it’s forced out like a fart.

Why doesn’t someone tell her to wear her skirts/dresses a wee bit longer? Would be much more attractive.

I sound like Bob Dole by posting a picture? Not sure how you made that leap? Do you live in Colorado?

I’ve met her. She was very catty to my daughter, another singer-songwriter. She’s also been rude to an up and comer in country music I know, for no reason other than the fact that she can. Don’t get in the way of her career or men.

I’ll admit to being somewhat intoxicated when I wrote that. But I really like what I hear. I love the simplicity of her songs, usually built around 2-3 chords, that seem to broaden in complexity, but suddenly I realize that her simple base is still there. And that’s very satisfying.

All Good to You and Yours, and all the best in your career.

Thinking of your impressions for a day or so. They seems an odd dichotomy to the lyric, “...Marriage was the only way to work things out.” Wouldn’t that indicate her commitment to marriage, at least? Or do you feel it’s mere dramatic license?

I’d take your reply seriously. Thanks.
