The Stones Which They Trip Over...Psalm 2 pt 5

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.(Psalm 2:1-6)

The Kings of the earth and their rulers have come into open opposition against the LORD and His Messiah. The basic issue of the conflict is the desire by the world ‘movers and shakers’ to break the bondage of the christian religion, and to usher in a bold, new, godless world order.

But there is a two-fold touch point in the conflict, that God mentions in his response to them. They are the King God has appointed, and the Holy Hill of Zion, which God calls ‘mine’. these are the two specific points of offense that the whole world stumbles over.

The most contested piece of real estate in the world is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The center of the world is Israel, the center of Israel is Jerusalem and the center of Jerusalem is the temple mount.

The destruction of the second Jewish temple was predicted by Jesus in Matthew 24, and Daniel in Daniel 9

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.(Matthew 24:1-2)

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(Daniel 9:26)

Daniel also predicted that the temple mount would suffer “the abomination that makes desolate“. Not long after the destruction of the second temple, the Romans built a shrine to Jupiter on the Holy mount, fulfilling Daniel’s prophecy.

Islam has desecrated the temple mountain, by building the “dome of the rock” and the Mosque of Omar there hundreds of years ago. Although the Jews regained the city of Jerusalem in the 1967 war, Israel allowed the Jordanian religious Waqf to maintain custodianship of it to this day.

Jesus said that Jerusalem would be “trodden underfoot of the gentiles until the time of he gentiles be fulfilled”.

The Muslims have undertaken a continuous campaign to eradicate any trace of a Jewish presence on the Holy Mountain, hauling out with earthmovers tons of rubble containing priceless relics of the previous two temples, and dumping them in gravel pits.

The Temple Mount is a very sensitive piece of real estate. We must remember that the Intifada that utimately led t0 9-11 began when Ariel Sharon took a walk on the temple mount in the fall of 2000.

The Temple mount is the holiest site in Judaism .It is the only place on earth where God placed his name. The Bible is full of references in it, the Psalms in particular are replete with references to it.

The Quran makes no mention of Jerusalem. Yet somehow the temple mount has become the third Holiest site in Mecca and Medina. The Muslims seek to hollow the mountain out and make of it a giant mosque.

The rest of world in an effort to please and placate Muslims would pressure Israel into ceding more “Land for peace”, up to and including Jerusalem and the temple mount.

But God is the one who has asserted that it is His Holy Mount, where he has set His King to rule the world. As we come closer to the end this controversy sharpens, as Zechariah predicted it would,

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.(Zechariah 12:2-3)

The vision pictures the Kings of the earth heading down the road to a new world order, when lo and Behold, A stumbling stone blocks the path. The Nation that seeks to remove the stone shall literally be “lacerated” for the trouble.

This would be in the day when Israel’s near neighbors set themselves in seige round about, and at the time when the Trial for the whole earth draws near.Psalm 2 is definitely eschatological.

“Daniel also predicted that the temple mount would suffer “the abomination that makes desolate“. Not long after the destruction of the second temple, the Romans built a shrine to Jupiter on the Holy mount, fulfilling Daniel’s prophecy.”

I didn’t know that.
I thought that was still an end-time prophecy yet to be fulfilled.
Me thinks, I need to study more on this to be sure.

Thank you and many blessings too for all the work you do here, there, and everywhere ... smiles and a big hug to you and yours.

You are right, it is yet to be fulfilled. Much of prophecy is multiple fulfillment, with an ever increasing intensity leading to the last fulfillment.

oh... ok, and that ever increasing intensity looks like it has been turned up a notch with all this wicked worldliness being pushed upon us.

oh, and by the way, have you ever done a study on “Easter”?

I started questioning it a few years back, and I have totally stepped away from it, because I think we have been misled, and we should be honoring the Christian Passover of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus instead.

I’ve even attempted to make unleavened bread for the past two years, and in the privacy of my home, and alone, I partook of the remembrance of our Lords Last Supper, on the evening of the 14th day after the spring equinox.

Long ago, I always thought “Easter” was in memory of Christ Jesus, but I don’t believe that’s the case if you look deeper into it.

Maybe one day you can present us with a study about it.
It’s even that time of year for it too now, and maybe we all can exchange some thoughts on it here about why some Christians honor “Easter”, and some honor the Christian Passover instead. I’m sure we will be enlightened one way or the other into why we do what we do when we do it...smiles.

Not long after the destruction of the second temple, the Romans built a shrine to Jupiter on the Holy mount, fulfilling Daniel’s prophecy.

If this shrine was the A of D, why would Jesus tell them to flee to the mountains when they saw the A of D ... if the A of D was erected 'not long after the destruction of the second temple'?

Matt 24:15-16
15 “Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),
16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains.

Doesn't make sense that Jesus would tell them to flee after seeing the A of D if the A of D was constructed after the destruction has already taken place.

This is a prophecy which consists of multiple fulfillments. By the time Jesus had warned of the A of D, predicted by Daniel, One fulfillment of it had already happened, the desecration of the Holy Place by Antiochus Epiphanes. The construction of theshrine to Jupiter is another one, as is the construction of the Mosque of Omar and the dome of the Rock, The Mosque of Omar has a blasphemous saying on its crown, which proclaims “God has no Son....” this on the temple Mount! “Jerusalem will be trodden under foot of the gentiles until the time of the gentiles be fulfilled...”

One fulfillment of it had already happened, the desecration of the Holy Place by Antiochus Epiphanes.

If that is true, then how were the six infinitives in 9:24 fulfilled in the time of Antiochus?

They weren't fulfilled in the time of Antiochus, Antiochus came well before the 483 years...(There are still 7 more years to be fulfilled.

..Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
