Russian Orthodox priests, accompanied by armed men, have attempted to seize two Crimean churches belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, according to a Moscow Times report.
Established in 1992, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate is led by Patriarch Filaret, who has been excommunicated by the Russian church.
Today the seizure of places of worship in Crimea is being triggered by Russia, said Yevhen Nyshchuk, Ukraines minister of culture, according to a report from the Religious Information Service of Ukraine.

I thought Vlad was the defender of Christendom, and protector of christians the world over.
My dad always said...”Don’t believe everything you read....”
So Vlad even militarized the church.
During the Soviet era, the Russian Orthodox Church Inside Russia was monitored and controlled by KGB.
The Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia was independent throughout the Soviet era from the aftermath of the October 1917 revolution.
Acts such as reported here will cause the Russian Orthodox Church inside and outside to slip back to their separated status when they have been working to unify.
Not at all what I was hoping for. I think they've misunderstood the concept.
