Homosexuality promoted through Catholic Charities [vanity]

Posted on 03/25/2014 7:32:08 PM PDT by Faith Presses On

Something I was reminded of when I heard about World Vision deciding to hire those in "gay marriages" is how Catholic Charities has long promoted homosexuality. I know this because when I was living as a lesbian 15 to 20 years ago, I went to Catholic Charities several times for counsleing, and I found that the counseling was purely secular. When I went with a "partner," our lifestyle was embraced by the counselor. When I went to a couple other counselors myself later on, I was beginning to have doubts about this life, but one counselor even tried to encourage me to accept homosexuality. She said she had many homosexual friends, and these gay friends affectionately called their straight friends "breeders," but beyond that difference all relationships are the same.

It's troubled me for a long time that the Catholic Church raises money for Catholic Charities, and it goes for psychological counseling, which only makes one conform to the ways of the world.

A disturbing trend in such charities. Thank God you have been delivered from the lifestyle. Of course, according to liberals, you don’t exist.

Interesting. Especially seeing as how Catholic Charities folded up its tents rather than be complicit in the adoption of children by homosexuals.

As a confessed former homosexual it seems you would have a keen insight into the machinations of homosexuals to infiltrate organizations and pervert them to their own ends.

Furthermore I’m curious as to how you extrapolate your own personal experience to the entire organization and contrast it with another organization who made a public pronouncement of its policy.

Much of the reason there are Somalians in places like Maine & Minnesota is Catholic Charities flying them here rather than helping them there

Sure it’s what they do. Whether it’s people from Eastern Europe, Vietnam, or Somalians today. It’s a work of mercy. Now you and I have a shared concern about the influx of muslims into the United States.

The question is who is designating these people as refugees?

Illinois Catholic Charities gave away their adoption agency to a “Christian” organization that arranges homosexual adoptions.

Was the counselor a Catholic priest? If not, this is a non-story. The person that worked at the charity was as a not a devout Catholic anymore than you were. Just wondering why you posted the story.

No source for this story. Is it a vanity?

Catholic Charities, like Lutheran services, etc, receive govt money to carry out certain activities.....they have to do the govt's bidding in most respects...

that's what you get when getting grant money is more important than principles.

Apparently that’s what this post is — Catholic bashing of the worst kind.

I just did a search and went to many sites. Everything I found showed it to be under Catholic guidance. Some of the sites were by local churches. The sites stated help is given to people of all faiths. I do not know what their clothes are called since I am SB but pictures showed priests as leaders. That says Catholic to me.

That could be e case for her particular experience, but it Is not e case for our diocese. It will depend on the bishop. If the bishop is not orthodox, then the story such as this can arise. But I would bet that they are the exception and not the rule.

And I think it is very unfair to Catholic Charities as an organization to label the entire organization non-Catholic based on you personal, anecdotal story. By that analysis, we could argue that all the apostles were bad because Jesus picked one that would betray him.

The bottom line, is not to label the entire institution a failure just because you has a bad experience. I have had great experiences with them both with adoption and pro-life work. I am sorry your experience was otherwise.

Human institutions will always have their bad apples. But there are many wonderful Catholics and other non-Catholic Christians and even non-Christians who contribute to and benefit from Catholic Charities.

So are you Catholic Bashing here?

It's "Catholic bashing" now to talk about a personal experience and the question it brought to your mind??? Mighty touchy aren't we?

Dear Faith Presses On, it is a shame that, not only did you reveal your own spiritual struggles and the questions it prompted you to ask about the kind of "service" you received from a so-called Catholic organization, but you also got accused by Free Republic's own FRoman Catholic Brigade of intentionally doing so just so you could "bash" them. I'm sorry you were treated that way by some who claim to be the BEST Christians that exist in the world. I don't think it is out of the ordinary to expect a religiously named organization to abide by the tenets that religion professes. It sounds like you were not served well and, instead, encouraged to continue in a sinful lifestyle that would NOT bring you closer to knowing God. You had every right to expect better.
