Guinness Brass Contacted
Catholic League ^ | March 28, 2014 | Bill Donohue

Posted on 03/29/2014 5:27:36 AM PDT by NYer

r

Bill Donohue sent the following letter today to three top officials at Diageo-Guinness in Norwalk, Connecticut, and three others in London:

“The decision to withdraw sponsorship of New York’s St. Patrick’s Day parade is not being welcomed by Catholics, especially Irish Catholics; we are also impressed by the number of non-Catholics who have expressed their support for our boycott. No gays have ever been barred from marching, and there were no new rules applied this year that made the 2014 parade any different from previous ones; claims of discrimination are therefore bogus. Please see the enclosed petition for further information on why I called for a boycott; the petition is available on our website and will be printed in the May edition of Catalyst, our monthly journal.

“In 2007, the Miller Brewing Company offended Catholics by sponsoring a vile, obscene, anti-Catholic gay event. When they refused to issue a complete apology, and balked on pledging not to sponsor the event the following year, I called for a boycott. Five-and-a-half weeks later, Miller changed its mind and the boycott ended. For more information see pp. 1, 5-7 of the November issue of Catalyst, and pp. 1 and 4 of the December edition. We reach a wide audience, including all the nation’s bishops.

“It is my hope that you will do what you can to reverse this situation. Thank you for your consideration.”

MEDIA BLITZ OVER GUINNESS BOYCOTT

Blitz-logoBill Donohue comments on media reaction to the Guinness boycott:

In just one week, we succeeded in getting 82 media hits on our boycott of Guinness (click here to see the list). From Australia and England, to Canada and the United States, the boycott story has been picked up by TV, radio, newspapers, and the Internet. And this is just the beginning.

We have no hard data on the success of the boycott, but anecdotal evidence is very encouraging. The decision by Guinness officials to pull sponsorship of New York’s St. Patrick’s Day parade has led many pub patrons to choose another brew. There is anger over what has been done, and it is not going away. We will make sure of that.

We have heard from bishops in Peru, cardinals in Rome, pub owners in cities across the nation, chapters of the Knights of Columbus, men and women from many ethnic and religious groups—they’ve had it with the corporate bullies at Guinness.

There will be more on this issue, much more. Please go to our website and check our “Guinness Boycott Central” feature for the latest developments.

I don’t know what is the matter with these companies. They are throwing away 97% of their customer base for nothing.

And let’s not overlook the fact that Guinness is widely distributed and sold in Cameroon, Nigeria, Malaysia, and many other countries where homosexuality in crime punishable by imprisonment. Seems to me that if Deigo-Guinness is really concerned about gay rights, then it would pull its products off the shelves in these countries.

They won’t be getting another nickel from me. I hardly ever drink beer anyway, but from now on I will specifically not drink Guinness.

There are now much better stouts and porters brewed in America. Guinness should be considered the Bud of the non-American anglo-sphere. It’s all marketing and very little substance.

A new micro brewery and restaurant just opened in the next town. I tried their Imperial Stout last night. Absolutely wonderful. Next visit I'm getting a growler.

I guess Guinness could start marketing to moslems. Oh, wait a minute...

Moslems don’t drink AND they kill gays.

Nevermind.

I don’t drink Guinness. When they changed the shape of the bottle some years ago, I swear they changed what was in it—probably watered it down for “American tastes.”

Good for this organization and their boycott.

When I contacted Sam Adams, their response was that they chose not to sponsor as it was divisive.

My response to that was if it was so divisive to sponsor a parade, how was it not divisive to pull their sponsorship. Told them they could put their PC crap in the same toilet as their beer.

And my local watering hole just switched from Harpoon IPA to Sam Adams IPA swill. Guess I'll just have to go back to drinking Yeungling.

Hit Diaggeo too. They own just about every well know alcoholic beverage name in the UK. Bushmills, guinness harp, jameson. All off my list. I do this to hit back against the gaystapo. The gays don’t want equality. They want supremecy.

I have never had a Guinness, or a Sam Adams. I had thought about trying them in the past, but with what they did with the St. Patrick’s Day Parades in New York and Boston, there is no way I will try either now.

I wish there was a huge boycott on the use of the word gay to describe homosexuals. Homosexuals are not gay by any stretch of the imagination. Homosexual is the proper term and they hate it. Too damn bad homosexuals!

Nor I, to include Sam Adams and Heineken. Fortunately, there are dozens of fine brews to choose from.
