First Grader Silenced For Mentioning Jesus
Eagle Forum ^ | 3/28/14 | Phyllis Schlafly

A first grader in California has been told she’s not permitted to talk about the Bible at school. A teacher at Temecula Valley School told her first grade class to bring an object to school that represented a family Christmas tradition and then give a one-minute presentation. Brynn Williams brought the star that tops her family’s Christmas tree and shared how her family remembers Jesus’ birth at Christmas. “The star is named the Star of Bethlehem,” Brynn said. “The three kings followed the star to find the baby Jesus, the Savior of the world.” Brynn had planned to end her presentation by reciting the famous Bible verse John 3:16, but her teacher stopped her before she could say more. Brynn’s teacher told her to “stop right there” and sit back down. The teacher then explained to Brynn – in front of the entire class – that she was not allowed to talk about the bible or quote its verses in school. Brynn’s mother met with the principal about this issue, and the principal backed up the teacher. She said the school’s policy is to protect students from being offended.

They tell them to have sex and hand out condoms, teach false science of global warming, mock Christians and somehow the school policy is not to offend students? Or is it only some students?

Wow.

The teacher asked students about their CHRISTmas vacations, and then is surprised when a student talks about CHRIST?

All Christians who are offended at this school teacher and administrator ought to appear at the school board meeting and declare that they are joining the parents’ lawsuit….but they won’t. They’ll just complain and do nothing.

Jesus said, “ Whoever offends a child who believes in me, it would be better for him that a millstone be hanged around his neck and he be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42.

Why even have such an assignment then?

That was the purpose of the assignment. To teach 1st graders that God and the bible are something one doesn't dare mention outside the confines of the home.

If the child was silenced for talking about Ramadan and quoting from the Koran, there would have been outrage, and it would have made the evening News on every channel.

The parents should raise hell with school for silencing their child.

Ask yourself: Because the teacher disciplined the girl in front of the class-Does this child now think that there is "something wrong" with Jesus and the Bible? Her teacher just " taught " her that she should be quiet about her religion. Even when talking about Christmas!

IMO-the teacher did this deliberately. It says the teacher asked the students about Christmas in the first place- I think knowing that Jesus would be brought up. And when He was mentioned-the student saying His name would be berated in front of the class-thus "teaching " all the other students that there is "something wrong" with Jesus and the Bible.

I would DEMAND that the teacher apologize to my child in front of the class and explain to the class what the first Amendment to our Constitution is and what it means. If they refuse , then I would file the mother of all lawsuits against them.

This crap will only stop when parents stop putting up with it.

Would she have been silenced if she spoke of Muhammed? Zeus? Confusis? Rama? Marx? I think Not.

Funny, wasn't the kid offended that she had to sit down and shutup before her presentation was finished?

Yes, but this is PC world. In their minds, it is ok to offend good people. It is just not ok to offend muzzies and rats. Screw them.

Simply put, this event was the misuse of the teacher’s power over the child in order to teach the children to take Jesus out of the Christmas season.

( She said the school’s policy is to protect students from being offended)

NONSENSE. Does this school district teach on the American Revolution? WW1 or WW2? Those might offend kids of English, German or Japanese heritage.
Teach about slavery? Pretty offensive to some. The point is most everything they teach can and does offend someone. But the ONLY thing that gets banned for being offensive is Jesus and Christianity.

According to their agenda they do.......
Surely nothing to do with Jesus.........

Kinda weird to be talking about Christmas in March. Perhaps December would be more appropriate.

There are organizations who will gladly sue the school district into bankruptcy over this.

If it happened in December perhaps, but the school will just say it is inappropriate to discuss Christmas in March. I kinda think it is weird to do the Christmas story in March. The organization won’t touch this one.

Amazing how freedom OF religion has been transmogrified to freedom FROM religion by the homosexuality-is-holy crowd.

the teacher is wrong. students are allowed to talk about God in school. the teacher can’t talk about God in school as part of their official duties.

Rather than suppressing people’s rights, why not make a statement saying that the views of a student are solely his or her own and the school itself is neutral?

Was wondering the same thing!!! I guess for most it’s just presents and food. No church and faith.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Except they didn't have any problem offending the five year old girl.

What a bunch of lying hypocrites.

Nehemiah 4:14 And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.”
