Pray for our American Heroes

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:26-29)

Father in heaven, as the Easter season reminds us of what You did for our salvation, we thank You that it was Your will that Your Son die for us.

Lord, we pray all Your blessings on our military men and women, including this greatest blessing – forgiveness through the Cross, life through the Resurrection.

Father, we pray for Your children, that this time of remembrance would be a time of comfort and celebration to us. We say a special prayer for Your church that lives under persecution, that Your hand of protection would be over them as they commemorate Your death and Resurrection.

Lord Jesus, nearly two thousand years ago You left to return to Your Father. All those many years ago, You gave us these words: Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. Because You blessed us, we have believed, and because we believe, You will bless us. Teach us to know and to rely on the love You have for us. On the hard days and the dull days, the days when You seem far away, help us hold on to the faith and the blessing You have given us. We who have not seen will see, and we who believe will be blessed, according to the grace You have given us in Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, Amen.
