You may remember when this made news a few weeks back.
Now, some teachers are challenging the contract:
About 60 people gathered Tuesday on Fountain Square to protest new language in the Cincinnati archdiocese’s teacher contract.
They walked to the archdiocese offices on East Eighth Street, they said, to hand-deliver petitions – including an online version initiated locally – with more than 24,000 signatures.
The contract, which all teachers in the 19-county archdiocesan school system are required to sign for the 2014-15 school year, includes so-called morality clauses that are more detailed and restrictive than in past teacher contracts.
The contract for the first time spells out that archdiocesan teachers are not allowed to support publicly behavior that is in contrast to Roman Catholic teachings on gay “lifestyles,” out-of-wedlock relationships, abortions and certain fertility methods.
Some participants in the “March to Fix the Contract,” however, feel alienated. They said the restrictions don’t jibe with their own views as Catholics.
“They aren’t listening to all Catholics,” said Tom Flautt of Anderson Township. “They’re only listening to a small group.”
He thinks the contract is a thinly veiled attempt to shield the archdiocese from potential lawsuits – if, for example, a teacher is fired because of his or her personal beliefs.
“The whole thing is about money,” said Flautt. “This contract is an attempt to keep them from having to pay for improper labor actions.”
The march drew a mix of parents, students, former teachers and others who support their cause.
“What horrible, brutal requirements. It’s almost like a North Korean labor camp.”
That was very funny. But over on DU Land it would have been quite serious.
Seems to me there are going to be some job openings in that Catholic School system.
Who’s forcing gays to teach in Catholic schools?
For making up 2-3% of the population, this group make a hell of a lot of demands on the patience of the rest of us.
Hey, guys! You might try Protestant schools like the one I went to!
Oh, wait, no. The one I went to, at least, is just as up-front and just as serious about expecting the staff to live what they teach, and explicity expects a lot of the same standards. So no, that wouldn’t work for you, either.
Look. I realize those standards aren’t everybody’s thing. If they’re not for you, maybe your calling to teaching really doesn’t include Christian schools.

Cincinnati is my childhood home, I still live an 1.5-2 hours away from it, and I have much family still there.
One of my grandsons will begin kgarten at the local Catholic school this next schoolyear. (My d-I-l is Catholic)
Cincinnati Parochial Schools are without doubt, and this is based on test scores, the premier schools in the entire state, not just in the city.
If they wish to maintain standards, spiritual/religious standards, then more power to them. Apparently, the entire mix of training, spiritual emphasis, standards, etc., is working beyond fabulously well.
It is a PRIVATE, RELIGIOUS school. These teachers don’t have to sign a contract and they don’t have to work there. There will be no lack of replacements.
Catholic schools can absolutely demand fidelity to the Church’s teaching, when they’re hiring teachers. These men and women will be directly affecting the souls of the children in their charge by the example of the way they live their lives of Faith.

Teachers think they can’t be replaced by faithful Catholics, but they can.
Gee whiz, I had a homosexual teacher in my grade school when I was going there. He was a priest, and he taught relgion classes. And he later got caught molesting little boys and sentenced to prison. And that’s why they don’t want homosexuals teaching in their schools.

The Catholic Church doesn't keep homosexuals out. They just don't want homosexuals acting on their desires, kind of like adulterers and drunks. When I was in the Marine Corps the BEST chaplain I served with was a homosexual. He had more medals than the regimental commander (he was Vietnam vet as an enlisted man). Everyone loved that guy. He never said he was homosexual, but it was kind of obvious (gentle, kind, very soft voice and a silver star, bronze star and two purple hearts- and about 10 other medals). He was always there for people and was very compassionate, but didn't mind saying, "sometimes life sucks and you move through it."
I can tell story after story about the guy, but basically, if you had a problem, he was the person you sought out.

The love that dare not speak it's name won't shut the H3LL up any more.
Still no one will identify them as homosexual.
Not me.
they should quit if they don’t like it.
If you don’t like it, leave.
The school should not just look at failure to sign the contract as grounds for dismissal, but ANY opposition should result in the same.
