Oklahoma Megachurch Founder Admits Infidelity, Resigns
Charisma News ^ | 5/2/2014 | Gina Meeks

Posted on 05/02/2014 6:08:20 PM PDT by Gamecock

The Rev. Mark Crow, founder of the multisite Victory Church in Oklahoma, resigned Tuesday “after confessing to marital unfaithfulness,” said Executive Pastor Dale Swanson in a statement.

“The Victory Church family and staff are praying for Mark, that the same grace we all experience and draw comfort from in our own spiritual journey, will be ever present in Mark’s transition to healing and wholeness,” Swanson continued.

Crow, a televangelist who is well-known because of his connection to Oral Roberts University, founded Victory Church with his wife, Jennifer, in 1994.

“Mark will be focusing his full attention on his personal relationship with God, and beginning the process of bringing healing to the fractured relationships in his life and family. Victory Church is fully committed to providing the counselors and ministers who will guide him through the process of reconciliation with God, and ensuring the best possible outcome for this next season in his life,” Swanson added.

The multisite church draws more than 8,000 people each weekend.

If you cheat on your spouse, you cannot be trusted in any aspect of life. Period.

If your spouse cheats on you and it is a “shock” to you, you never were one flesh in the first place. So, if your spouse had cheated on you, you are in a soul-less “marriage” like gay “marriage”.

There are several churches with VICTORY in their names. I had to dig to find that this one is in Warr Acres in OKC.

Where’s you get that doctrine from? It sounds curiously inhuman, especially toward the victim of the unfaithful spouse.

Galatians 6:1 (NIV) Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.

Spiritual people are humbly interested in restoration, not condemnation, judgement, or harshness.

It’s good to see a church that the offender is immediately removed from leadership. That’s as it should be and is according to scripture. It’s refreshing to see that there are still churches and leaders who take responsibility.

Oh, you silly! Don’t you know the loyal spouse is responsible because she didn’t meet the needs of the unfaithful one? Where have you been!?!

But seriously, see how this allows for wiping out a marriage and allowing “Biblical” remarriage? You were never married, if he cheated.

70% of “marriages” end up in divorce. A sizable chunk caused by infidelity. Keep believing those were “marriages”. How gullible.

“Sometimes a less than perfect marriage is better than no marriage.”

Husband leaving the toilet seat open or wife over shooping is a less than perfect marriage.

Husband philandering or wife sleeping around is not a marriage at all. It is a fraud.

I won't argue with that a bit, it's just that for an awful lot of people it's the only exposure to anything even pretending to be Christian they get in our increasingly Godless society. Most such churches at the very least mention Christ being our Savior now and again although they preach "go along to get along" and not Christ and Him crucified as their real message. They're a money machine "Church of Nice" providing a theoretically Christian alternative to whatever society makes popular from Anorexic Babes to Queers for Christ but they're careful about their facade and maintain a Christian veneer that requires them to at least touch base with some traditional Christian beliefs.

So, for a very large number of people in this country the mega-church leaders are the benchmark of Christian behavior and morality for them. When they go bad, a lot of people start to lose what little faith in Christianity they have and go from very little exposure to anything like Christianity to no exposure to Christianity.

God really does work in mysterious ways, though. I've known several people who started their Christian journey in a mega-church and didn't think the way things were explained fit together very well. So, they began to study on their own and eventually saw the same thing, the mega-church is a money making entertainment enterprise and little else.

If there had never been the attraction to comfy theater seating, "Christian Rock" as it's called, and coffee served during the show, they say they'd have gone some other route. Eastern religion, no religion, different things.

At any rate, I totally agree. In fact, one of my favorite YouTube goodies makes that very point.

Victory Church

Mark Crow’s blog and Facebook are down, and their church website has been scrubbed. It says “Pastor Jennifer” but no mention of Mark.

I feel for this church. There are going to be a lot of hurting people there.

On further reflection, this reasoning eliminates the concept of “adultery” entirely. If a participant in a relationship with sex-partner A takes up with sex-partner B, then the relationship with sex-partner A wasn’t a marriage, no matter what the documents say (or A might have believed), so the adventure with B isn’t adultery.

This doesn’t sound, to me, like what God intended, although one can see its utility for a person who wants to have multiple sex-partners without feeling guilty.

"‘Mega’ churches are frauds, they are just large entertainment centers. "

"Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day--about 3,000 in all."

Acts 2:41

... I wonder what kind of "entertainment" the Apostles were using?

**based on the exploits of the megachurch pastors**

How about the exploits of Calvinist pastors in small churches? The one I attended 32 yrs ago seemed to have a devout pastor, but 20some yrs later he ‘moved on’ to another woman.

But threads like this are a good meeting place for the WSC (’whited sepulchres club’) /s
