The Vatican is not a synonym for Catholic. There are many rites. Check it out.

Satan has shown he can quote scripture quite well and I think his minions mock religion that is real. He doesn’t seem to bother mocking Protestant services to much.

That's because we have the Sword to fight him off...God gave us the scriptures to ward off the Devil so he doesn't get much of a foothold in a Protestant church...God even told us as much right in the scriptures...

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

When Satan's ministers show up as religious priests, we can stop them in their tracks by holding up the scriptures, the word of God...

The Mormon religion is every bit as relevant as the Catholic religion...The authority for both comes from outside the words of God, the scriptures...The authority from those religions comes from the words of man...

There were no protestants. Sorry to disappoint you.

The Christians/Catholics back then did not bow to any church leaders...The leaders wouldn't allow it...The leaders didn't wear fancy, expensive clothing to show their piousness...No one called the apostles, deacons or bishops, father...

The reason these things are warned about in those days is because there were fake religionists going around wearing robes, claimers of making 'holy water', claimers of , 'no one told the apostles to write the bible' even tho they have no idea what Jesus may have told the apostles to do...

Paul seems to have been the first Protestant...He was protesting against false religion like yours from the get-go...

And all those so-called heretics who were burned, murdered and tortured were protesting against your religion from the beginning...

Yes, Protestants have been around since the first Catholic showed up...

Newman was one of the greatest theologians of the 19th Century. But some on this boards actually think they know more about Christianity that he did. Amazing.

People on this board and all over the world have access to every bit of information that Newman ever had...And Newman was very wrong on many issues regarding Christianity...And on top of that, most of us who disagree with Newman are not sodomites...

By the way the so called apocrypha (Deuterocanical books) were in this book because Martin Luther hadn’t been born yet to decide that they were not in the “bible”. Scripture IS Catholic.

By the way, the Jews, God's chosen people had rejected the Catholic apocrypha as any part of scriptures long before the first pope showed up...

All of Catholicism is founded in scripture - each and every doctrine is completely scriptural, and it is a Protestant myth that Catholics neither study or understand the bible.

Couldn't be further from the truth...There is no doctrine teaching Mary was sinless...There is no doctrine that Mary provides healing, salvation, peace, comfort or any of the other things your religion applies to the doctrine of Marianism...

I’ve asked the same. It’s a phony “quotation.” And yet Salvation continues to promote it, as though it were true. Papists do that a lot — use fake evidence to support their heretical views.

I have two bibles. One belonged to my husband’s great aunt Olive (I’m not sure what religion she was), and the other is the New American Bible. I also very much like the Douay-Rheims Bible online:

Nice to see Catholicism has denominations, too!

However, my point remains: the Apostles did not write or teach what the Catholic Church teaches:

“Purgatory, Priests, Bishops or a Papacy. They didn’t know about Mariology, Indulgences and there is no record of them pushing infant baptism.”

Nor does the Catholic Church teach that Paul had the right to jump down Peter’s throat:

“...I said to Peter so that everyone could hear, “If you, who are a Jew, do not live like a Jew but like a Gentile, why on earth do you try to make Gentiles live like Jews?”

And then I went on to explain that we, who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, know that a man is justified not by performing what the Law commands but by faith in Jesus Christ. We ourselves are justified by our faith and not by our obedience to the Law, for we have recognised that no one can achieve justification by doing the “works of the Law”....I refuse to stultify the grace of God by reverting to the Law. For if righteousness were possible under the Law then Christ died for nothing!”

Telling Peter that his behavior and teaching effectively made Christ’s death meaningless is about as harsh as one can get - and Paul did it “so that everyone could hear”.

Ground control to Iscool. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were not apostles.

They aren’t denominations. They are all Catholic and all under the Pope.

**“Purgatory, Priests, Bishops or a Papacy. They didn’t know about Mariology, Indulgences and there is no record of them pushing infant baptism.”**

And just how do you know all the teaching that they did? Purgatory is covered in the Gospels, Priests (Presbyters and Bishops are covered in Timothy. (I think it’s 2Tim) The Papacy is covered in the accounts of Easter Day and the next morning, Indulgences are thrown out in Acts — I think with Magus Simon — hence the word simony.

I think they knew about them.

Uh... no they're not. Purgatory is nowhere in the Scriptures.

Priests are not covered... Elders are, and even Deacons in Timothy and Titus. No priests.

And NOWHERE in Scripture does ANYTHING appear about the heresy of the papacy. No. Where. Ever.

As for the teaching they did? Oddly (and easily enough) it can be found in the Scripture they wrote under the inspiration of Almighty God.

They knew a lot and taught a lot; but they did not teach Mariolatry, Purgatory, or the papacy. Those are doctrines of man, made of whole cloth, and foisted on Roman Catholics to the dangers of their eternal souls.

Don’t tell us that you THINK those Catholic doctrines are covered in Scripture somewhere. Post the chapter and verse references along with the verses.

“And just how do you know all the teaching that they did?”

Because they did not hide it:

“That is why I must tell you solemnly today that my conscience is clear as far as any of you is concerned, for I have never shrunk from declaring to you the complete will of God. Now be on your guard for yourselves and for every flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you guardians—you are to be shepherds to the Church of God, which he won at the cost of his own blood. I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you without mercy for the flock. Yes, and even among you men will arise speaking perversions of the truth, trying to draw away the disciples and make them followers of themselves.”

The complete will of God. There was nothing to add. No Purgatory to create later on, no priests to create, no bishops - elders and deacons in the church, but no bishops, and everyone was a priest, expected to offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and good deeds to God.

No indulgences. Peter would have been stunned at such a teaching. And as I pointed out, Paul rebuked Peter in the strongest possible terms on a fundamental of Christian teaching - salvation by faith, not deeds!

Only God the Holy Spirit provides a proper interpretation to the believer in fellowship with Christ.

The role of the Pastor-Teacher as a member of the Body of Christ is to communicate the gospel to believers.

Placing faith in anybody other than faith through Christ, fails to allow God to provide.
