Catholic Church Forces Woman to Leave Job After Gay Marriage is Revealed

Colleen Simon insisted on performing her job this week out of devotion.

On Wednesday, she managed a delivery of 2,000 pounds of food for the pantry at St. Francis Xavier Church. It’s work she sees as fulfilling God’s will, his call to serve.

She couldn’t let the food spoil.

But apparently, that is not the way the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph sees her role. Not anymore. Not after it was publicized that Simon is gay and married to another woman.

Simon’s job unraveled in a horrible confluence of unintended consequences that ran into the Catholic faith’s hypocritical stand on homosexuality.

Simon’s work as coordinator of social ministries was profiled April 30 in The Star’s 816 newsmagazine. The article highlighted Troost Avenue — its history and the many interesting people dedicated to its vibrancy today.

Colleen Simon and her wife, the Rev. Donna Simon of St. Mark Hope and Peace Lutheran Church, were mentioned deep in the story, along with the fact that they are a married couple.

The freelance writer didn’t intend to out the couple. They bear no grudge to her, nor to the priest currently serving St. Francis. The Simons have never hidden their marriage (in Iowa on May 19, 2012).

More than likely her "wife's" Lutheran Church lacks the funds, much less the organizational ability, to put together even the most basic of a food pantry.

Former ELCA colleagues tell me that even though congregations have merged to survive, the pews get more empty every week.

Which makes sense when you think about it. Why does your typical libtard even require the cloak of a fake church anymore now that their official State Church is in charge of so much of the government?

People need to wise up and describing same sex marriage as the embodied sexism that it is.

Catholic faith’s hypocritical stand
I think the reporter has a poor understanding of the teachings of the Bible by asking 'why did God create homosexuals'? and then taking affront and calling the Bible hypocritical. My short answer to the reporter is, God didn't create homosexuals any more than He creates rapists or murderers. God gave man Free Will to choose behavior. Path A or Path B. God named marriage as a sacred bond between a man and a woman, a process that makes those two souls complete. Made it pretty clear a few times. God also made it pretty clear that Satan had permission to tempt us along the path of life. Part of the contract, don't ask me why. So God knows there's going to be temptations, be it homosexual acts or promiscuity, and those urges are Satan's way of saying, hey there. But those who understand Free Will know it's a test of faith and that acting on those urges is the sin. Some may say God created people born to be homosexual. I say maybe God created people born to be celebate. God expects those seeking Salvation to do what is asked of us, much as Jesus resisted Satan in the desert. There is no hypocrisy in Free Will at all.

The hypocrite was Simon for lying and not the Catholic Church for abiding by their own principles. Let that paper discover that this writer is a secret racist and what are the chances she'll be let go from the Kansas City Star?

Down here they get the food from Second Harvest (the distribution center is ~20 miles away), and the churches distribute it. So far as I know, the churches depend on volunteers to drive down and get it (I usually have to work but I did drive down there once myself on a day off and was not paid), and other volunteers to distribute it.

What's hypocritical about it? If the woman is in a position that she is REPRESENTING the Diocese, the Church is within her rights to demand that her public life comport with Catholic teachings.

It's wonderful that this woman wants to help the poor, and she can continue to do so, but just not as a representative of the Church.
