A group of women claiming to be the secret paramours of priests have written to Pope Francis to urge him to roll back the churchs celibacy requirements.
A popular pontiff, Pope Francis receives hundreds of letters every daybut a recent one, signed by 26 women who would like his permission to have sex with their priest-boyfriends, was undoubtedly not like most of the others.
The letter, published by La Stampa newspapers Vatican Insider website on Sunday, began with a plea for the pontiff to take heart and make celibacy optional for the signatories paramours, who happen to be priests. Dear Pope Francis, we are a group of women from all over Italy (and further afield) and are writing to you to break down the wall of silence and indifference that we are faced with every day, wrote the women (who signed with their first names and a last initial). Each of us is in, was or would like to start a relationship with a priest we are in love with. Their phone numbers were also apparently made available in case the pope would like to call the women to discuss the issue.

Has La Stampa fallen for another Onion article?
A group of women claiming to be the secret paramours of priests...
“Devastating suffering” ????
Come on ladies, offer it up.
I want to say, "Look, honey, the one thing you know about this guy is that he will break even a solemn promise made before Almighty God. If he would betray God, why wouldn't he betray you?"
Vatican says nearly 413,000 priests worldwide.
Perhaps the giveaway here is only 26 women?
BWA HAHAHAHAHA
Well said!
Is there a Biblical injunction against priests marrying? Or is this another man-made rule?
Answer to your questions.
RE: Is there a Biblical injunction against priests marrying?
NO.
is this another man-made rule?
YES.
Plus, it's an option. The Latin Church has opted for celibacy. The 21 Eastern Catholic churches have not. So it looks like there are plenty of choices... more than enough choices, in fact, for married men who want to be priests.
Plus, in the Western church married men can be ordained deacons. So plainly there is nothing about the Sacrament of Holy Orders per se--- which is the Sacrament that both priests and deacons receive --- which excludes married men.
My answers to the questions asked are still correct.
I won’t dispute that. It’s Western Canon law as published in 1983 - not a Scriptural mandate.

I wouldn’t be shocked if there are priests who have secret girlfriends. It’s a normal, natural part of being a man.
Why suppress the natural feelings of desire for the opposite sex?
