MILWAUKEE, May 23, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) The head of a Christian ministry that succeeded in having an anti-Christian hate page removed from Facebook last year is taking action once again after discovering the page has been reinstated.
Cary Bogue, CEO of Project Wildfire and owner of the Catholics & Protestants United Against Christian Discrimination Facebook page, objects to a page called Virgin Mary Shouldve Aborted, (WARNING: obscene content) which depicts as its cover image the unborn Jesus as an abortion victim wearing a crown of thorns, while the Virgin Mary smokes a marijuana cigar with a satisfied smirk. The pages profile image is similarly offensive, featuring a cartoon image of the Virgin looking down at her swollen belly and muttering an expletive.
The pages description reads, People have rights, ideas do not. No beliefs are above criticism. Organized religion is AIDS and we desperately need a cure.
Bogue argues the page violates Facebooks Community Standards, which state: While we encourage you to challenge ideas, institutions, events, and practices, we do not permit individuals or groups to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.
If this is not the exact definition of hate speech directed at a religion, I am not sure what is, Bogue said. We all know Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is an avowed atheist, pro-abortion and a strong advocate for the LGBT, but that does not excuse him from continuing to allow this page to remain. It also does not excuse the apparent lack of integrity and bias this shows. I challenge him or anyone at Facebook to explain to the Christians across America how this isnt hate speech directed against Christianity.
Last summer, Bogue succeeded in having the offensive page temporarily taken down after a Tweetfest featuring the hashtag #StopFBAntiChristianBias. A concurrent petition drive urging Facebook to remove the page garnered more than 20,000 signatures.
When the women who run the page immediately put up a second page, Virgin Mary STILL Should Have Aborted, Bogue urged Facebook to remove that one, too.
Facebook did remove the spin-off page and notified Bogue by e-mail. But within two days, the page owners successfully appealed the ban, and the original page was back up and running unbeknownst to Bogue.
When I first got the e-mail I thought they had reconsidered on the original page, said Bogue. While it had about 2,300 fans it has a much smaller impact than Virgin Mary Shouldve Aborted (VMSA). There is no logic in Facebook removing one without the other. A quick perusal of the page makes that obvious.
Most of what is posted on the VMSA page cannot be reprinted here due to its obscenity, but the posts mainly fall into one of three categories: anti-Christian, pro-abortion, or pro-LGBT. None of those sentiments are exactly uncommon among Facebooks 1.3 billion users, but it is the sheer virulence of the posts that would seem to violate Facebooks Community Standards. The pages administrators wear their hatred for religious people on their sleeve, often calling them religtards or God-botherers, but more frequently referring to them with obscene euphemisms for genitalia and immoral sex acts.

Explaining why she started the VMSA page in a recent post, one of the pages administrators wrote, Nothing tickled me more than the squirming image of a right-wing conservative receiving the notification Virgin Mary Should've Aborted likes your post! I relished this [discomfort] and it made me realize that these kind of extreme religious interactions will only be available in this time period, for a few more years. This is the age of technology and science, and one day religion will be a scarcity; a laughable stain on our past.
As Bogue renewed the effort to have the page shut down, the administrators taunted him, writing, Sorry, dudebro, but we were unpublished before, but Facebook backed us. We came back harder than before, and look at us now.
But Bogue, who says he has received death threats and had Facebook pages put up attacking him and his family by fans of VMSA, is undaunted.
I expect lots of nasty personal attacks and pages to be put up, he said. But I am a servant of Christ. So bring it on!
Remember the word that I said to you, the servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you, he added, quoting John 15:20.
Bogue is calling on Facebook users who are offended by VMSAs content to report it to the company as hate speech. To see a diagram explaining how to do so, click here.
The renewed effort include a reportfest on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. Eastern time.
Bogue filed a police report, as well, on Tuesday with the Milwaukee County Sheriff, saying a car followed his wife in and out of traffic, snapping pictures of her.
I found it concerning when one of the VMSA admins denied it and in the denial stated she lived exactly 1,414 miles from me, he told LifeSiteNews. She obviously knew exactly where I live.
I know. Words are useless.
May the Lord help them turn and see.
It’s not the natural thing to do, but shouldn’t we just pray for these people, that they may “come to the knowledge of the truth”, and then ignore their tantrum against Christ!?
I’m sure they do feel this way. Mary’s son will judge them one day. Deep down, they know it, and they rage at it.
“Its not the natural thing to do, but shouldnt we just pray for these people, that they may come to the knowledge of the truth, and then ignore their tantrum against Christ!?”
You are correct for two reasons.
1. In a secular sense Freedom of Speech means freedom for all even the offensive and puerile. By allowing them to post such swill I maintain my right to post more socially enlightening things.
2. People like this have enough trouble with God, they don’t need any from me. I believe this where the admonition to turn the other cheek should be literally followed. Especially since things like this are posted simply to get a response.
Our church is very successfully using social media - especially Facebook - to spread the good news. Good and inspiring conversations.
You think so do you?
You have not been paying attention you witless loser. The Muslims are coming! The Muslims are coming! And they will force you to worship their false god or kill you.
Your fellow Liberal social Darwinist, moral relativist are inviting them in to the US under the guise of cultural diversity. Muslims dont integrate and they dont play nice with others once they have reached sufficient numbers to impose their will.
You can laugh and make fun of Christians all you want we rarely retaliate; we are a peaceful people and when offended we usually turn the other cheek.
I invite you to be an equal mocker of religions. Why dont you start a Face Book page that mocks the Prophet Mohammad. I will gladly support your right to free speech when you do. Then I will send flowers to your funeral.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
the page mentioned refuses to display.....
I sense it may be here again gone again
“Why dont you start a Face Book page that mocks the Prophet Mohammad.”
You make a great point. If “organized religion is AIDs” certainly that includes Islam? What religion is more organized than that one?
I dare this fool to put just one of those Danish cartoons on her facebook page. We’ll see how tough she is then.
Gays and liberals are more afraid of Jesus than Satan Himself who has seen Jesus
try to make a graphic anti-abortion page and you’ll see how fast ‘ideas’ get yanked
any pro-abortion types should stop being hypocrites and abort themselves immediately.
they should show some conviction in their beliefs!!
It isn't too hard to see a parallel between a satanic mass and the above statement. Both have to do with promoting an attack on a certain class of people known as Christians. As the rest of the article indicates, this is very close to hate speech against Christians.
It is not "death speech" against Christians, so it will be permitted to slide under the radar, since, as the article points out, Zuckerberg is an avowed atheist.
However, Zuckerberg is helping lay the groundwork for "contempt speech" thence to "prison speech" and eventually to "death speech".
The Church would do well to apply its logic for Catholic schooling to the Facebook problem. Create its own facebook.
There’s lots on the Internet that is vile and that I don’t agree with.
But I don’t want them to be censored and I don’t want the likes of Facebook to be censoring that which I disagree with.
It’s only half a step from squelching this to anti-Islamic communication being disallowed.
Personally I have no use for the term “hate speech”. As soon as this concept is accepted you have fascists on the Left trying to regulate hate speech on talk radio, the internet (anywhere but mosques!)
Let this vile woman belittle herself by insulting Christianity. It doesn’t hurt me and it most certainly doesn’t hurt the Lord. Nothing has done more to lift humanity out of poverty and squalor than the teachings of Jesus Christ. This is why we don’t have to wage “jihad” or even file lawsuits against those who don’t accept our faith. Its value is self-evident to any who care to look.
Hitler proved that contempt for a class of people eventually moves to “death speech”. (Let’s kill all those damn MaxoTharlassians!)
I think it moves on a continuum up to that “death speech” level.
If I’d been a Jew in pre-Holocaust days, I’d have actually heard the “utter contempt speech” and chosen that as my time to arm AND exit. I’d not have waited around to hear the “imprisonment speech” or the “death speech”.
Perhaps the best reaction to such gross idiocy is to ignore it. Let is marinate in its own stench. There’s something to be said for refusing to get into a spraying contest with a skunk.
Someone should counter with similar Facebook pages - Obama’s mother, Mohammed’s mother, Zuckerman’s mother, etc.
The intent of these heathen pagan non-believers is to insult Christ and Christianity and thereby evoke a response of anger and hatred from his followers. Hoping we respond with an “eye for an eye” so they can emphasize the “hate” Christians have for them.
But when confronted with anger, Christ said not to respond in anger, but instead “turn the other cheek”. Such a response is sure to evoke further anger and hatred from the enemy. By turning the tables, the source of the “hate” will be obvious.
Jesus said you would be hated in his name. When this happens, you know you are doing the righteous thing.
