    for the waters have come up to my neck.
2 I sink in the miry depths,
    where there is no foothold.
I have come into the deep waters;
    the floods engulf me.
3 I am worn out calling for help;

My eyes fail,
    looking for my God.

    outnumber the hairs of my head;

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

As a Shepherd, David sang of the "Still Waters" that bring Peace and Contentment. Now, as a fugitive, he sings of the turbulent, destructive waters that threaten to engulf him. The destructive power of water is evident when looking at videos of the tsunami, or even gazing in wonder at the Grand Canyon. Although the Full Canon of Scripture was not available to David (he was going to end up being a PART of it!), a vivid memory of the Story of Noah's Flood must have been a part of his childhood. Fear of drowning is instinctive in all of us, and even a few drops of water in the "wrong" place can induce panic. As we read David's Song, and imagine it set to music, the notes and rhythms must be VERY Dramatic! I'm thinking Beethoven, Wagner, Mahler, or Jimi Hendrix!

Come and Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
