It is heartbreaking, just yesterday I on the phone with 3 different clerics. I pray for them daily, I know they have targets on their backs.

I have friends who are parishioners there.

They must be devastated.

Not appropriate? In what way is comparing an animal that would shoot two Priests to the wild beasts in a Roman arena not appropriate? Should I have shown Christian charity and referred to the perpetrator as a misguided individual? Sorry, I'm not a perfect soul, I believe in the death penalty and retribution on earth. If that makes me a bad person I'll just have to answer to God. May the Lord hold and keep the departed and speed the healing of the wounded Priest!

May Almighty God receive the soul of his servant, Father Kenneth Walker, and provide his relatives, friends, and parishoners with His Peace. May He heal Father Joseph Terra, and make him whole, and Grant His Grace to all who grieve over this event. I ask this in the Holy Name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

You are referring to the priests being the beasts, correct?

IF, and it's a big if, there was anything inappropriate in your post, it was only in the sense that Twain was trying to exemplify in The Mysterious Stranger

..." Then they drove splinter after splinter under his nails, and he shrieked with the pain. Satan was not disturbed, but I could not endure it, and had to be whisked out of there. I was faint and sick, but the fresh air revived me, and we walked toward my home. I said it was a brutal thing.

"No, it was a human thing. You should not insult the brutes by such a misuse of that word; they have not deserved it," and he went on talking like that." It is like your paltry race - always lying, always claiming virtues which it hasn't got, always denying them to the higher animals, which alone posses them. No brute ever does a cruel thing - that is the monopoly of those with the Moral Sense. When a brute inflicts pain he does it innocently; it is not wrong; for him there is no such thing as wrong. And he does not inflict pain for the pleasure of inflicting it - only man does that."

In what way did this statement not make it acutely clear what I meant when I responded to Ruy Dias de Bivar statement that the thieves/killer would have been thrown to the beasts in the arena in ancient Rome? Neither one of our statements could be remotely construed as referring to the victims/Priests.

**In ancient ROME, people who robbed temples were thrown to the wild beasts in the arena.
Nowadays they are the wild beasts in the arena.**

You used the word “they”. I understood that to mean the priests.

I can’t help that, I was commenting on statement that clearly spoke to the thieves and not anyone else. Have a wonderful day.

O God, Thou didst raise Thy servant, Kenneth,
to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ,
according to the Order of Melchisedech,
giving him the sublime power to offer the Eternal Sacrifice,
to bring the Body and Blood of Thy Son Jesus Christ down upon the altar,
and to absolve the sins of men in Thine own Holy Name:

We beseech Thee to reward his faithfulness and to forget his faults,
admitting him speedily into Thy Holy Presence,
there to enjoy forever the recompense of his labors.
This we ask through Jesus Christ Thy Son, our Lord.
Amen.

Whatever. Hey, they’re only Catholics, so what’s the big deal?

/s/ for the non-discerning.

Not sure what the hullabaloo is all about. I read it the way Mastador1 describes here.

Well, for starters, why shouldn’t we automatically ask whether or not it was done by an angry homosexual?

That’ll be my position until evidence proves otherwise.

And don’t bother condemning or “may God have mercy on” me. We’re at war.

They threw Christian and priests into the arena. So you are saying these priests got what they deserved? Since the reference is clearly to pre-Christian Rome, that’s what the reference suggests.

Praying. The FSSP trains good and holy priests.

Is English your second language? Did you not actually read the comments or what? I suggest you actually read the comments word for word and if you still can't differentiate between thieves and Priests I can't help you. And the reference clearly suggests it was about thieves!

In ancient ROME, people who robbed temples were thrown to the wild beasts in the arena.

Or are you suggesting that in ancient Rome Priests robbed temples?

he didn’t even speak of the food, but rather the eaters. It’s odd - in my perspective - how this is misread.

Actually, English was my field of study. Maybe you should study history. Rome was trying to exterminate all Christians. So making a pro-Christian reference to that time perios is extremely bizarre and wrong.
