San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has responded that, despite criticism from political leaders in his home state, he will attend the March for Marriage this week, because his position requires him to act as a defender of the Catholic faith.
In a letter released today, Cordileone wrote that he is required as a bishop, to proclaim the truththe whole truthabout the human person and Gods will for our flourishing ... especially the truth about marriage as the conjugal union of husband and wife, Cordileone wrote. That is what I will be doing on June 19th.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone Political figures from Nancy Pelosi to San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee to California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom had written to Cordileone, asking him not to take part in the second annual march in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
Pelosi, who supports marriage redefinition, called the march venom masquerading as virtue.
"We share our love of the Catholic faith and our city of San Francisco," she wrote to her archbishop. But she said some of the event's participants show hate and disdain for homosexuals.
Bill Donohue of the Catholic League accused Pelosi of selective outrage. When gays go naked in the streets of San Francisco, and mock Catholicism in patently obscene ways, Pelosi is never offended. What offends her is her archbishop's public defense of the Church's teachings on marriage, he said.

Hopefully we can read it after it is passed..................oh excuse me ...I mean done. Then we can read all about it. Then I wonder if we will hear her nervous laughter. A hideous sound if ever there was one. I pray for this mixed up person.
The Bishop should also announce the excommunication of Pelosi.
God Bless the Archbishop!
No. Cordileone is Abp of San Francisco; Bp Michael Barber, SJ, was installed in Oakland about a year ago.
You are right.
Now I realize the extent of the effects caused my recent time of convalescence. I haven’t kept up-dated enough to comment.
Sorry.
“Glad the guy told her no but he is avoiding his faith in avoiding excoming her. And it is a poor example to christians of all stripes.”
It’s “excommunication” not excoming.
He’s a great Christian of courage.
Pelosi needs prayer more than anything else. She has already excommunicated herself. Does she attend Mass? I doubt it.
She’s a cultural Catholic as much as a cultural Jew who attends shul once a year but avoids living it, or a Protestant who hasn’t seen the inside of a church in years, but keeps Christmas, not an observant one.
You can fool others; you can fool yourself, but you can’t fool the ineffable God.
I take it you have been very ill? I will pray for your complete recovery. I will bow my head and pray right now.
Excom is jutt shorthand.
As long as Pelosi is allowed to call herself a Catholic, she uses it to push liberalism and anti catholocism...the gay thing is just one example.. That makes a mockery of Catholics, the church and God.
Now I know God can take care of himself but the Church is empowering Pelosi to turn more people toward evil in its name and in God’s name.
In no way shape or form is that acceptable, nor is any priest on up who allows it folowing his own doctrine/teachings. This isn’t one slip up. It is one of a series of direct challenges to what God’s word is.
If they accept it they are not following their faith and are every bit responsible for the spreading of evil she is..
