The direct killing of an unborn child. It is always murder and therefore gravely sinful. (Etym. Latin fetus, the young in the womb + -cidium, a killing.)

Not a term we hear often.

But we do hear the word 'infanticide.' Seems that refers more to a newborn infant, though and not the fetus.
