Our Lord Jesus Christ: "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet." St. Matthew 12:39
And He repeats: "A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet." St. Matthew 16:4
Once an Assyrian Church, converted into a mosque after the Muslim invasions, the tomb of the famous Old Testament Prophet who made the Ninevites do penance and recognize the God of Israel had first been vandalized after the fall of Mosul weeks ago. It was completely imploded, its structure demolished with explosives by the terrorists of the "Islamic State" earlier today as a place of "idolatry" -- which is why those happy barbarians in the video proclaim, "there is no God but Allah"...
Nearly 3000-year-old relics and archaeological treasures, the spiritual treasure of the Assyrian people under the mosque turned into dust.
Whether or not it is the actual tomb of Jonah is, IMHO, immaterial. It is a site long associated with Jonah, so the connection is there regardless of whether the dust of his bones are.
Pray hard. He undoubtedly approaches...
Boy Scout Motto
No matter how hard they try, they can’t stop the God of the universe.
They thought an end had come to Jesus, but no matter what they did He rose again. He is the everlasting and one true God.
Jonah was a great prophet; it’s sad to see his burial place destroyed. But his life and testimony will go on forever.
The sign of Jonah that Jesus refers to is actually His own resurrection. Jonah came out of a sea creature as if he had been reincarnated and this is partly why he was believed. Christ, of course, came forward from His tomb after being crucified which is why the witnesses of His day believed.
It was a lovely parallel which, of course, sailed right over the heads of His listeners. Probably sails right over the heads of many readers today too.
Our son is named after the prophet Jonah, when we saw the video of his tomb being destroyed it was sad, this now is so disturbing.
Islam is not now, nor has it ever been compatible with a civilized world.
It is us or them, turn them into a sheet of glass.
Imagine what they would to Bethlehem and the wailing wall~
Islam = from the devil himself.
>> the spiritual treasure of the Assyrian people under the mosque turned into dust.
Islam is of Satan — pure and simple. It is both painful and fascinating to read this article. CHRISTIANS, open your eyes and unite! Factions (i.e. denominations) within the body of Christ are NOT each others’ enemies. ISLAM IS THE ENEMY.
I disagree, however, with the statement I quoted. The spiritual treasure of the Assyrian Christians has not been turned to dust — nor will it ever be.
JESUS IS KING! His church will endure forever, not in the form of hunkered-down defensive fortresses, but as a living, breathing, SWORD of OFFENSE against which the gates of Hell itself shall not prevail.
In fact, if they keep heading down this road they're taking the world on, people may get angry enough to not wait on God and lay waste to them ourselves.
Sometimes you just have to be someone else's karma.
Mecca, plane, bomb, BOOM!
And to think some Catholics think those devil worshippers worship the same God that the Catholics do.
But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator. In the first place amongst these there are the Muslims, who, professing to hold the faith of Abraham, along with us adore the one and merciful God, who on the last day will judge mankind. Lumen Gentium
May Saint John Baptist protect Islam and all the people of Jordan, and all who partecipated in this celebration, a memorable celebration.
St. John Paul II
I think JPII was just seeing if the thing would burst into flames!
One of the FEW things I do take ISSUE with the CHURCH on, about Catholics and Muslims worshiping the same God.
The sign of Jonah...should we expect something big to happen in 40 days?
That’s great. I love when people name their children after the apostles, prophets, and others in the Bible. Also to name them after relatives...keep the family names going.
Dear friend, it’s time to retire this photo from your quiver. It’s old, outdated and, by gosh, it’s even faded from years of reposting. Perhaps you have not heard but the man on the left, is not only deceased but has also been elevated as a saint. Moreover, since his death, two other holy men have been elected as “servants of the servants of God”. Time to rethink your unholy strategy.
Yes, a post-Vatican II Church “saint”. Tell me. How many Catholic Saints prior to Vatican II would ever dream of kissing the “holy” book of a diabolical religion?
ISIS wants to blow up Mecca. I’m not entirely sure why.
Really? Interesting! Problem Solved?
Because Mecca is an Idol.
I quoted him as a saint; did I not, friend? So don’t insuate what I may not have heard.
I did it to make a point that’s the first Catholic saint I’ve ever seen both kiss a Koran and ask a fellow Saint to “protect Islam”.
Makes me question the whole saint factory, that St JP II initiated.
Want to me to post that old cartoon about St. McPeter’s and getting halos super-sized?
What exactly do you think my strategy is? And why is it unholy?
I would like an answer to your unsubstantiated accusation. But I don't expect one.
Another arrow from my quiver, my friend:
Jolly good for you!
I wish we had a few more more recent popes who were also proud of their Catholicism.
Is your halo “supersized”? Or did you just order “large”?
