The empty cassock...

As a struggling Christian who recognizes the Holy Roman Church, I'm of the opinion that the pontificate of Pope Francis is an absolute and utter disaster.

New American Standard Bible
“Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

In fairness to your anti-Christ Pope, that scripture is in reference to the Roman legions that surrounded and destroyed Jerusalem.

Luk 21:20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

They are called the "abomination of desolation" in the parallel passages because they were heathens and idolaters, also carrying the images of their gods upon their standards as they marched to destroy Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is the city where the people of God reside, i.e. the Church.
the only “holy place” after Jesus went to the cross is the Church.
Jesus is warning that near the end of the world, Satan will be loosed for a short while, evil will multiple, there will be a great falling away from the Church such that Jesus asked whether He would still find faith on the earth when He returned and finally Satan will sit in the holy place, that is he will rule the Church. everything is playing out exactly as the Scriptures tell us they will.

I haven't been following the exchange closely, do you have an actual argument against what ebb tide has been posting? I really would like to see it. I'm not trying to put you on the spot, I sympathize with your position but I just can't defend it with any sense of coherence yet.

The “church” did NOT replace the nation of Israel. As God promised the Israelites are being brought back to their promised land. The armed nations around Israel is just now starting.

Actually, I am just sad and concerned to see someone put so much effort into a CONSTANT stream of criticism. It can be very harmful spiritually.

My positions are already known to ebb tide.

we agree! the Church DID NOT REPLACE Israel! The Church IS Israel. Just a name change.

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is helpful in understanding this point. 2:12 states the Gentiles were once separated from the COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL, but v19 says they are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.
the chapter is clear, the believing Gentiles are now citizens of the commonwealth of ISRAEL.
remember, the true Jew is one inwardly, not of circumcision, right??

These literal interpretations only serve to emphasize the utter bankruptcy of any reside of intellectual thinking on the part of Scripturalists without any reference to holy tradition, revelation, and scripture. The Bible did not fall from the skies. Its book were authenticated by the early Church fathers

his article is spot on, whether he is Catholic or not. he observes that the post Vatican II Church ruptured from 2,000 years of Church history, who can argue with that?

I hope everyone with spiritual eyes can see the great apostasy unfolding before our eyes!

to the believer it is a time of great tribulation, but at the same time seeing the Scriptures coming true helps to solidify our faith and makes up pray even harder for friends and relatives.

While I'm dismayed at how Pope Francis has managed to get his foot firmly in his mouth with some of his public utterances, I think it's too early to judge his Pontificate. He may indeed turn out to be a disaster, but let's not rush to judgment. And do remember that he needs all our prayers. He has a tough job to do.

Well at least there is one Catholic who gets it. Sadly many do not.

The only position of yours that I know is your animosity towards me. You don’t critique the articles I post; you just attack me.

here’s how I am going to judge his Pontificate:

does he declare to a lost world that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except thru Him?

have you heard him say that? have you heard any post Vatican II Pope say that?

not only don’t I hear him say that, I hear him say things like wishing the Muslims a holy Ramadan and an easy fast!!
