As you may have heard, some nitwits have scheduled use of a public venue in Oklahoma City for the purpose of a Satanic Black Mass. It is unclear if they have a consecrated Host.
This is, I think, mostly a sophomoric stunt. It is, nevertheless, a horrible blasphemy.
The Bishop of Tulsa, His Excellency Most Rev. Edward Slattery, has issued a letter to people in his diocese. HERE
A letter from Bishop Slattery
Countering with Prayer the proposed Black Mass in Oklahoma CityMy Dear People:
As has been widely reported, a Satanic Black Mass has been scheduled for September 21 in Oklahoma Citys Civic Center. As a part of Satanic worship, a Black Mass attempts to invert the action and meaning of the Eucharist in order to mock Christs sacrifice and worship Satan through an orgiastic ritual of pain and perversion. It blasphemes everything which we hold as sacred and redemptive; and the spiritual dangers it poses ought not be dismissed. Since the Civic Center has not responded positively to the pleas of the Archbishop of Oklahoma City not to host this event in a tax-payer supported public venue, I am asking the faithful Catholics in the Diocese of Tulsa to fight this blasphemy through prayer and fasting:
- Please keep the nine days prior to the Feast of the Assumption as an extraordinary period of prayer and penance. I am asking every Catholic to abstain from all meat and meat products from August 6 through the 14th. I am also asking that you consecrate your hunger with a daily recitation of a decade of the rosary and the familiar Prayer to Saint Michael. Printed copies of these prayers are available in the bulletin and at the entrances of the church. Be strong and encourage your friends to also be strong.
- On Assumption Day, August 15th, we will ask Our Lady on her Feast, to intercede for us and protect us. On that day I in the Cathedral, and every priest in his own parish, will pray a special prayer written by Pope Leo XIII for the defense of the Church against the attack of the Enemy and his apostate angels.
- Should these prayers and this period of fasting not effect the cancellation of this event, then I will ask every priest in the Diocese to conduct a Eucharistic Holy Hour on September 21 at the same time (7:00 p.m.) as this profanity is being celebrated in Oklahoma City. Wherever possible, I ask that Eucharistic Processions – especially outdoor processions – be arranged as part of these holy hours. Let us give a public witness to our faith in the Eucharist which is being so profoundly mocked and ridiculed by this event.
From the snares of the devil, deliver us, O Lord!
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Edward J. Slattery

I invite all bishops and priests who read this blog, in solidarity with the Bishop of Tulsa and Archbishop of Oklahoma, to pray for the conversion of these deluded souls and for the overturning of this scheduled event.
Prayer, ping!
On Assumption Day, August 15th, we will ask Our Lady on her Feast, to intercede for us and protect us...
Should these prayers and this period of fasting not effect the cancellation of this event, then....
Wouldn't this violate man's free will?
NOT in regards to the ENEMY.
But not from the devil in the world today — in the form of this Satanic group proposal.
Pray!
Bishop Slattery is an excellent Bishop. (He also has beautiful white hair, like our retired Bishop Curlin here in Charlotte.) He was Bishop of Tulsa when we were there.
No wonder Oklahoma has been shaking more than usual lately,
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
Spiritual warfare is very real, and no one is on the sidelines,
For believers we’ll have times when we’re more aware of what, when and where its happening around us,
Jesus gave us his authority to rebuke these evil spirits, greater is he in us than what rules over this world today,
We all individually can claim this promise, take this authority, boldly proclaim it in prayer:
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19
Bind this evil.
“Wouldn’t this violate man’s free will?”
How so?
Even Christ was tempted.
No more than praying for someone to be saved.
I think this is just a publicity stunt by some idiot attention whores after looking at information about their backgrounds and photographs of the founders of the (bowel) movement. I doubt they are “real” Satanists. What’s going to be funny is when the real Satanists shows up and takes over their little party and it gets real.
If desecrating our Lord in the consecrated Host is not the act of a “real” Satinist, pray tell who is? If the Sacred is no longer sacred, what is, in your world? After looking at Satan’s background, one might conclude he had a fine “background” too, at one time.
Calling these haters simply, “attention whores”, lets them off way to lightly. Satan wanted the attention to himself too. So, what else should we continue to ignore and blow off?
Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
One day, after celebrating Mass, the aged Pope Leo XIII was in conference with the Cardinals when suddenly he sank to the floor in a deep swoon. Physicians who hastened to his side could find no trace of his pulse and feared that he had expired. However, after a short interval the Holy Father regained consciousness and exclaimed with great emotion: “Oh, what a horrible picture I have been permitted to see!”
He had been shown a vision of evil spirits who had been released from Hell and their efforts to destroy the Church. But in the midst of the horror the archangel St. Michael appeared and cast Satan and his legions into the abyss of hell. Soon afterwards Pope Leo XIII composed the following prayer to Saint Michael, which is the original version:
Original - Prayer to St. Michael
O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.
Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven. That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.
These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be.
Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord; and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.
V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers.
R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered the root of David.
V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord.
R. As we have hoped in Thee.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
Let us pray.
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as supplicants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious St. Michael the Archangel, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all the other unclean spirits who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls. Amen.

Short Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
The well-known short version of this prayer follows in English and Latin. The Pope ordered this prayer to be recited daily after Low Mass in all the churches throughout the Catholic world. However this practice was almost completely swept away in the 1960s by liturgical changes made in the wake of Vatican Council II.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
Sáncte Míchael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio, cóntra nequítiam et insídias diáboli ésto præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus, súpplices deprecámur: tuque, prínceps milítiæ cæléstis, Sátanam aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo, divína virtúte, in inférnum detrúde. Ámen
G-d doesn’t take them seriously. Why should I?
The difference in this case is that I’ve already researched these doofuses. Trust me this is for attention they didn’t get from their mothers growing up.
Lord God,
We pray for the same results as the last time Satan thought he’d won in his handling of the body of Christ. It was an utter defeat that resulted in eternal life. The body and blood that takes away the sin of the world is still the body and blood that defeats the enemy and gives life eternal.
How odd, Lord, that satan’s minions would think the body and blood would be any less powerful. May the presence of the living Lord in His flesh and blood rebound again to the defeat of satan and those duped by him.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Those participating in the black mass must have faith in the Real Presence or they would not attend.
None of these folks are thinking of having a black protestant service.
Hopefully these Black Masses will make Rome rethink the protestant form of distributing Holy Communion in the paw.
