“...Do you believe it? Cardinal O’Malley is a guest speaker at the launch of a publication that distorts and undermines Catholic Church teaching.

John Allen states that while the Archdiocese isn’t going to ‘officially sponsor’ them, Cardinal O’Malley is going to put some wind in their sails.

And, guess who his sidekick is?

Yep - Cardinal Dolan....”

This is the brand new website from what I know.

I think some would argue that John Allen isn’t that bad but I don’t know who these people are. This Margery Egan I understand is on Boston Public Radio and that would indeed be a negative. I didn’t know this other about her but I did hear she was notorious.

The website doesn’t look that bad or liberal though, I don’t know if they do op-ed pieces, the article on the letters of Jackie Kennedy being returned to the Kennedy family from the Vincentian fathers declining to auction them off for big money is a story I haven’t seen elsewhere.

But I do see it is a Catholic News Services, CNS story:

Here’s just a sample of what Eagan is about:

If she’s not bashing Catholics it’s because she’s too busy taking more cheap shots at Sarah Palin.

Or denigrating vets.

----------------------------------------

"AN OPEN LETTER TO MARGERY EAGAN, BOSTON HERALD

Dear Ms. Eagan:

As veterans we wish to convey in the strongest possible terms out utter disappointment with the unwarranted attack on veteran parade organizers written by you in the March 4, 2014 edition of your paper.

In your column, “It’s time to scrap the St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” you wrote among other objectionable things:

Not a single politician should march. Nobody should, actually, save for maybe John “Wacko” Hurley and his pathetic band of Allied War Veterans, whose parade glorifies warfare at a time when veterans and most of America — after 11 years of bloodshed — want nothing more than peace.

“Pathetic band of Allied War Veterans”? Really?

“Whose parade glorifies war”? Really? This parade has been run by the veterans for over fifty years, and not until very recently has anyone ever thought of the organizers as pathetic, or bigots, nor any other demeaning or derogatory title. You should be ashamed of yourself.

For your edification these “pathetic” old soldiers are World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Gulf, Afghanistan, Iraq veterans who served their country with honor, many of whom saw blood spilled and horribly disfigured young bodies returned to their families in body bags for the rights you used to trash them. Many know the horrors of war personally and we sincerely doubt a single one of them sees their parade as a tribute to the glories of war...."

As a son of Irish immigrants I am often embarassed by the Democratic Party Bishops with Irish sounding names.Dolan’s actions and statements have done great harm to our Catholic Church. What does it profit a Bishop if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?As Archbishop Sheen said,it will be the laity that saves the Church.

According to the Cure of Ars, the first thing to do is to take it before the Blessed Sacrament.

Then once you have got to a place of peace, “Do whatever He tells you”.

Thank you. Well, her appointment should be protested definitely. I’d heard things about her but it sounds like one needs someone from that area to clarify things. I even know a fairly liberal Massachusetts Catholic but he doesn’t care for her.

I gave her somewhat the benefit of the doubt before I knew much about her but I don’t like the “op-ed”, “Why I’m Catholic”, having ancestors that were Catholic might be a consideration but the way I grew up, you follow the faith, follow the teachings, all there is to it. No ‘ifs, ands or buts”. Oh that column: http://www.cruxnow.com/faith/2014/09/10/why-im-catholic/

Thanks for the link. Some choice lines from her op-ed: "We’ve heard about “Brides of Christ.” How about this steamy dialogue from Catherine of Siena, who entered a “mystical marriage” with Christ in 1366: “The more I enter, the more I find, and the more I find the more I seek of thee. Thou are the food that never satiates …”"

"Many, like me, were born Catholic. Keenly and even painfully aware of Catholicism’s many and gargantuan flaws, we stay Catholic." http://www.cruxnow.com/faith/2014/09/10/why-im-catholic/

Cardinal O'Malley is throwing his support behind the author of these foul meanderings. To anyone who wonders why, just follow the money.
