Mormon leaders call for laws protecting some gay rights as well as religious liberties

Mormon church leaders are making a national appeal for a 'balanced approach' in the clash between gay rights and religious freedom.

The church is promising to support some housing and job protections for gays and lesbians in exchange for legal protections for believers who object to the behavior of others.

It's not clear how much common ground the Mormons will find with this new campaign. The church insists it is making no changes in doctrine, and still believes it's against the law of God to have sex outside marriage between a man and a woman.

I’ve checked several different copies of the Constitution and have yet to find one with a page pertaining to ‘rights’ bestowed upon anyone based on what they get up to with their genitalia.

The last I knew, the Church loved the sinner ,
but NOT the sin (act of commision) itself !

Mormons are quick to change doctrine based on the winds of change.

Two examples:
1. Plural marriage.
2. Views on black folk.

Gamecock:"Mormons are quick to change doctrine based on the winds of change.

Yes quick to change about plural marriage if you consider almost 150 years as a quick change.
" Views on black folk." has never changed
We are all "brother and Sisters of Our Father in Heaven"
I think you are erroniously referring to priesthood held by blacks which occurred about 50 years ago, under President Kimball.
I think that you have been misinformed...again !
But fear not , as many have been misinformed , ... still !

What does the LDS church have to say about members who commit extortion, bribery and prostitution and most likely murder?

You’ll never find it. The Founders would never, in the wildest stretch of their imaginations, have thought to have put something so insane and stupid into writing. Nor would they support such an abomination.

The Founding Fathers were mostly men of faith and men of faith will not condone sodomy as normal behavior and put it on the same level with a man and women united in marriage. We are a sick, sick society and there is no going back from this abomination against God. Jesus weeps.
