Should State Senator Apologize for Calling Hinduism a ‘False Faith’?

Idaho lawmaker says she's "really opposed to having prayer that wasn't Christian" in legislative body. by March 19, 2015 - 2:07 pm (Pic in URL) A crowd of naysayers that ranged from her cousin in the state of Washington, to Buddhist leaders in Boise, Colo., to a rabbi in Nevada has called on Idaho Sen. Sheryl “Sherry” Nuxoll (R) to apologize for calling Hinduism a “false faith with false gods.”

While the self-described mother, housewife and co-manager of a farm/ranch in Cottonwood, Idaho, has admitted she could have turned a better phrase, she has refused to say the words many people want to hear: “I’m sorry.”

Nuxoll and two other Republicans refused to attend the opening of an Idaho Senate session March 3 that was scheduled to include the first Hindu prayer ever heard in that legislative venue. The invocation was delivered by Rajan Zed, the president of the Universal Society of Hinduism.

Republican senators Steve Vick, Lori Den Hartog and Nuxoll returned to the floor of the Senate when Zed finished his prayer. Vick and Den Hartog made it clear that they were not happy with the Senate session being opened with a Hindu prayer.

Other senators also expressed their unhappiness with the decision to open the session with the first Hindu prayer ever heard on the floor of the state Senate. But no one other than Nuxoll came close to saying they were objecting to a false faith.

Hindu and Buddhist leaders have accused Nuxoll of adding insult to injury in an interview with a reporter from the Idaho Statesman.

So next we apologize for saying the Sun rises in the East? American being destroyed from within. What next a Muezzin's call to prayer? A Buddhist chant?

Why are you in such a hurry for these events to happen?

They will, soon enough.

We have sold our souls — it’s now the country’s turn to be put on the chopping block.

No.

If you don't care for her view point then don't vote for her next time but any apology would be forced and false.

Pressuring someone to lie just to make someone else feel better is wrong.

You make a good point especially when it comes to religious conscience.

No! Maybe for being impolite. "has admitted she could have turned a better phrase"

Libs are moving on to religious war divisions. I hate these animals. Might be time for civil war.

Maybe she can strike a conciliatory note by saying, "but it is still light years better than the Muslim cult"

There, is everybody happy now?

God wiped out nations for far less than the evil ways of our nation. I don’t see how this can go on much longer. . .but only the Father knows!

Some Hindus have been known to kill those who attempt to convert Hindus to Christianity, so they might be miles better than Muslims, but not light years....

I notice from her website that she is Catholic. She has only taken the authentic traditional Catholic position that religions such as Hinduism are false. Good for her. I wish we had more Catholic politicians like her.

Yes, you can call Hinduism a false religion.
No, you cannot oppose non-Christians giving the legislative session invocation.
(religious tests are unconstitutional, restrictions would also establish a state religion in violation of 1A)

If God isn't involved with wiping the US out as we know it, it's only because the US is doing such an efficient job self-destructing. Nature isn't helping us survive, though, that's for sure.

The fact that we are being asked to answer questions like this is proof that America has fallen. Why would any sane Westerner entertain promoting foreign gods that contradict our values and way of life? The answer is because they indulge themselves in the liberty of Christendom and Western civilization, like children vandalizing a candy store. Good for the Senator for trying to runoff the vandals.

Their continued war against GOD..will not end well for them.

In the meantime, we mist take a stand whenever and wherever necessary,

It does get tiresome.
