Now with that being said if they are true born again Christians bearing good fruit then we shouldn’t marginalize their past or anyone’s past.

Exactly true. And that is exactly what the Pope was trying to say.

This is just one quote that had been misconstrued.

Good bye.

2 Timothy 3:1-4
Know also this, that, in the last days, shall come dangerous times. Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked, Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness, Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasures more than of God.

The beginning of the great battle between Christ and Antichrist.

Mark 13:33
Take ye heed, watch and pray. For ye know not when the time is.

Reference: Calumny. This is the point I've been trying to get at all the time. He does enough in the real world that is disturbing that we don't need to make stuff up or take stuff out of context to know we have a "bad pope" here. For example, "inequality is the root of all social evil." A real quote. Taken from a document, not from off-the-cuff speaking. Though a short extract, there isn't anything that would change it if it is placed in its surrounding context.

At this point, the "surrounding context" for the plethora of hideous off-the-cuff statements emanating seemingly non-stop from the mouth of Pope Francis is provided by his own record. His destructive actions and his horrible appointments (e.g. Timothy Radcliffe, Margaret Archer, Donald Wuerl, Hans Schellnhuber, Msgr. Ricci...), his attacks on devout Catholics [e.g. Fr. Stefano Manelli (a spiritual son of Padre Pio) Cardinal Burke, et al] his manifest religious indifferentism, his public support of liberation theologians, his embrace of the UN eco-socialist agenda, and most importantly, his open contempt for traditional Catholic teachings underscore his beliefs and his agenda.

Since when is it "calumny" to treat a public figure's off-the-cuff statements as legitimate news? When, for instance, a president departs from his prepared script, would it be considered "calumny" to report his remarks? Of course not.

Public figures (and the Pope is no exception, see The PR Guru Behind the Pope Who Is Charming the World) are aware that when they open their mouths in front of the media their words will be reported far and wide. And furthermore, to arbitrarily dismiss his unofficial statements as unworthy of note is to violate his own expressed wishes. ("I’m constantly making statements, giving homilies. That’s magisterium. That’s what I think, not what the media say that I think." ‘We Must Reach Out’)

Regarding his upcoming trip to Latin America, his spokesman, Fr. Lombardi, has this to say: “The pope will probably improvise a lot in Spanish, so be prepared spiritually and practice your Spanish,” Lombardi joked during a news conference Thursday. (http://www.cruxnow.com/church/2015/07/03/pope-francis-in-latin-america-a-homecoming-and-a-headache/?s_campaign=crux:rss)

It's quite clear that Francis' off-the-cuff statements are intended not only to express his views, but also to be reported and discussed.

To be fair, I am willing to accept that some things have been taken wrong. HOWEVER, not most.

And if I was reading Mark right, I don’t think he was necessarily disagreeing with you/me.

The very fact that the Pope, who is the spiritual head of the Catholic Church, the Vicar of Christ on Earth, is wont to use the term “gay” (Which by their own admission, the sodomites assert is to be interpreted as a “militant pride” in homosexuality) rather than using the correct word “homosexual” (for one having same-sex attraction) or else “sodomite” (for the practicing homosexual) is sufficient to consider the motives of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio’s (Pope Francis) highly suspect.

And, in as much as it may be discovered that a priest is homosexual, it is absolutely imperative that the Pope DOES “judge” in what is a matter of prudence.

All these remarks do is to further solidify my conviction that the idiocy of Pope Francis is a terminal affair.

“Wonder why so many denounce this Pope....”

You’re joking? Allow me to enlighten:

Dear Francis, Please Shut Up

Pope Francis (Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J.) is an embarrassment to the Catholic Faith, a source of constant scandal. In comparison to his predecessors, Francis is an intellectual midget. His desire for public adulation and media exposure is narcissistic to the point that one must contemplate megalomania. In Argentina, Bergoglio’s ideology was discernibly Peronist, with excursions into Liberation Theology – a KGB creation that is Marxism with Catholic trappings.

The theology of Pope Francis is materialistic, devoid of spirituality. As a rule he subordinates the eternal concern of the soul to the equalization of temporal goods among the classes, omitting the qualifier “spirit” from the first beatitude: “Blessed are the poor IN SPIRIT, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Moreover, Christ said: “The the poor you shall always have with you …”

With his infamous “Who am I to judge,” Francis excused the behavior of homosexual priests, and sodomites in general – and thus further emboldened the militant homosexual “mafia” that exists both outside and inside the Vatican. He trivialized abortion, rebuking Catholics for being “preoccupied” with the mechanized genocide of the innocent. He dared youth of the world to “raise hell,” fanning the flames of social unrest – a long-standing goal of communist agitators.

Each time Francis speaks, he spouts rambling gibberish – making ambivalent or questionable public statements that often appear to contradict the constant teachings of Church – leaving Catholics the unenviable task of “correctly interpreting” stupidity. By parroting socialist propaganda, Francis scandalizes the faithful, and makes the Church less relevant in the world at a time when her moral authority is sorely needed.

His encyclical on climate change calls for a “global governing authority” to enforce a reduction of CO2 emissions. In this mode of One World Government I suggest our populist pontiff may then offer his services in a “Catholic Climate Directorate” – for surely he would inspire leftist indoctrinated youth to be more enthusiastic of their CCD studies! Like John Lennon, Francis speaks just as the fool on the hill, imagining utopian bliss. If only this encyclical were the apex of his folly; sadly it is one more exercise in the ongoing process of self-destruction to which the Catholic Church has submitted since Vatican II. Pope Francis is just its newest facilitator.

Did Francis consult any of the scientists, among those in the growing circle of skeptics, who consider Anthropogenic Climate Change a hoax? Or does he think it his crusade to trumpet the Chicken Little PC BS that flows from government toadies? Pontificating the babble of nimrods, who work to prove anything true as long as the federal teat puts out the sweet research milk, is a small price when your Holy Grail is global adoration: “Oh, I’ve given sodomites and abortionists a pass … Incited the young to raise hell for the cause of socialism … But how can I make the world love me? I’ll preach the gospel of environmental fascism! Then the world will adore me!”

Does Francis know that Earth’s magnetic field has substantially weakened, declining at an increasing rate since 1998, in the onset of a magnetic pole reversal? The Earth is experiencing rising levels of UV and cosmic radiation. Increased cosmic radiation leads to increased cloud cover AND warmer oceans. Warming sea water releases sequestered CO2 (and methane) which increases atmospheric water vapor – a greenhouse gas 1000 x more potent than CO2! Our magnetic field not only shields us from radiation, but also keeps our atmosphere in place. As the field continues to weaken, the solar wind will blow Earth’s atmosphere into space. Climate changes, for such is the nature of a dynamic planet; however, its origins have nothing to do with man’s practices, and everything to do with what is going on at the Earth’s core – as a direct result of changes in our star, the Sun. Does Francis understand this?

Now we have his pronouncement that weapons manufactures, and those who invest in them, are not Christian. Speaking to a group of young people in Turin, Pope Francis departed from his script and launched into a rambling denunciation of arms manufacturers: “It makes me think of … people, managers, businessmen who call themselves Christian and they manufacture weapons. That leads to a bit of distrust, doesn’t it?” He criticized those who invest in weapons industries, saying: “Duplicity is the currency of today … they say one thing and do another.” The pope then enlightened us with his understanding of world history:“The great powers had the pictures of the railway lines that brought the trains to the concentration camps like Auschwitz to kill Jews, Christians, homosexuals, everybody. Why didn’t they bomb?”

Sarcastically, I reply: With what? Oh, bombs – dropped from bombers – manufactured by? Apparently, intelligence is not a qualification for the Papacy. Besides the fact that the camps were not military targets, the Germans were effective at rapid repair of rail lines, so bombing these would have wasted resources. Moreover, the Allies did not grasp what was going on until after the camps were liberated; but Francis is a novice to material facts of history. Then again, he is a novice to Catholic doctrine – such as Just War.

Since we are discussing history, let’s consider his remarks in a strictly Catholic context: The Catholic victory against the Ottoman Turks in 1571 at the Battle of Lepanto halted the Islamic expansion in the Mediterranean and prevented their influence from spreading west. The Holy Roman Empire defeated the Ottomans again in1683 at the Battle of Vienna. There would be no Western Civilization, nor Christianity, without those victories. Does Francis renounce them? Does he support the beheading of the entire Christian World by the modern version of the Ottoman Turks – ISIS? What should their intended victims defend themselves with – words? What of Saint Michael? Who forged his weapon? How about Saint Gabriel Possenti, marksman and patron saint of handguns? Must Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus give up their swords?

The Pope is surrounded by 110 members of the Swiss Guard. Deep within the Vatican armory – alongside the racks of Model 1871 Vetterli rifles, Swiss T59 rifled muskets, and 15th century edged weapons – are racks of whatever is carried by the modern Swiss Army: SIG P220 and Glock 19 9mm pistols; SIG 510 select-fire rifles; SIG SG550 5.56mm select-fire rifles; StW90 rifle variants; SG 552 select-fire rifles; SIG MKPO 9mm submachine guns; 9mm Hispano Suiza MP43/44 submachine guns; HK MP5s; and HK MP7 PDW 4.6×30mm submachine guns – the same used by US Navy Seals.

One way to know God is angry is when He gives us bad leaders. Pope Francis proves the axiom; yet Catholics continue to make excuses. Perhaps it is not just the pagans in Colorado who smoke more dope these days … Apparently, so too are many poorly catechized Catholics – including the one presently occupying Peter’s Chair.

Is your Mormon leadership finding usefulness in this Pope?

Cute - is your ignorance of how Jesus and His disciples went about "dealing with" sinners your excuse for hating this Pope? Actually not Mormon but ex-Catholic because the "teachings" revolved so much around man-made cannon and tenets that the teaching of Jesus got lost in the mix. I read the Bible and talk with other Christians rather than listen to some "appointed over me as holier than me" pundit spouts crap that ensures I stay enslaved to religion instead of to Jesus.

So, it's all God's fault and not the humans in the upper echelons of the Catholic Church that gave you this "bad leader". Surely you jest. What does cannon and tenet say your are supposed to do if a Pope ends up being less than hoped for?

Hating the Pope? So you lied about that, but your post implies that you left his church, is that the hate you were speaking of, your own?

I merely asked if your Mormon religion found usefulness in this Pope.

Are you an ex Catholic that became a practitioner of Mormonism?

Do you read the Book of Mormon?

Are you completely bats? You must have ignored what I wrote in the other ...or....since you have to be right/win at all costs, you simply decided to attack from a different angle.

Having a discussion with such as you is a wasted effort because, like most narcissists, the truth will never leak into your mind if it goes contrary to your intentions of the moment. I stayed away form your crap for a while and this crap shows me that I need to just totally ignore you like so many of the more stable FReepers do.

Good day.

If not, he should be calling on all homosexuals to leave the church

Fine. They can come straight to my Church. By all means have the Pope tell them all to leave the Catholic church and come talk to us Latter-day Saints.

Also, any fornicators. Thieves. Shoot, we'll even take your liberals (that one is kinda rough but we'll make do).

We'll be happy to talk to anyone that you don't feel is worthy to be in your church.

We'll leave the light on for ya!

Of course in your religion, if they don’t cough up 10% of their income, they will not be allowed in the Temples and will be second class Mormons in this life and the next.
