There are other qualities: a good work ethic; sense of loyalty to the company; the need to be a productive member of society, rather than turning their nose up at tasks others deem too menial. That brings to mind about fifty years ago after I got out of the Navy and had not yet found full time work. I'd show up at the Manpower office for a day's work, wherever they assigned me. I remember a young individual telling the interviewer "I don't wanna be no porter".

With debit cards in use, there is an easy way to do some tracking. Check the stores that sell lottery tickets, cigarettes, beer, etc. with police- around the time when the money comes in and people are lined up outside the little stores where anyone can see. Better yet, program the cards so the cards cannot be used to buy these items. Check the salons with the hair and nails. See how the govt money is spent. Go back to paying the landlords out of the debit cards. Anybody caught with, or using drugs, has to reapply for benefits and do community service before they can be reinstated. Those of older age brackets, who have held jobs throughout their lives, without police records, and are older, handicapped, or vets get preference over those who are capable but have never worked. Why? Not race, color, creed or national origin, but those who are responsible and who will handle the money wisely and have proven themselves capable of doing so in the past. Just a suggestion, but a try at least to make some sense out of that situation.

First of all, may I extend my humble thanks for your Military service. God bless you and yours!
As for your post: Exactly! I washed dishes, painted signs, worked in a print shop, did the usual fast-food and retail gigs to help out at home. I usually worked two jobs at a time, as most places hired part timers so they didn't have to pay benefits.
Where has our work ethic gone?!? Nothing that is an honest living should be considered beneath someone. Ever watch Mike Rowe? He has am honest respect for people's work, whatever it happens to be! His shows are really interesting!

...which involves at least one of the parties not having sufficient knowledge or maturity to know what was involved in marriage. Which is 100% of the human race: past, present or FUTURE!!!
Sufficient knowledge is a reason so subjective that most anyone could claim it, but what it means is what RC judges define as "sufficient."

Whats arrogant to the max is that they presume to be the ones who define what a valid marriage is and that if its not a Catholic marriage, it can be considered to never have been valid in the first place. Which is not Biblical, as God never even made marriage valid exclusively to those in the faith, but counted pagan marriages as marriage, and required nothing more to validate it when they converted.
But Rome basically presumes she can make the word of God to be subject to her.

The assumption that Americans who are older or handicapped are categorically less productive will automatically exclude people from work opportunities. I 'assumed' nothing.
I merely mentioned LESS productive.

I just know that the America we live in now is nothing like the one my parents described when they'd talk about living during the Depression they grew up in.It will be!

If it was actually about taxes or money there would be a much higher % of gays actually getting married in the states where it has been accepted for 10+ years, in my opinion.Just wait!

I was referring to the assumption in general, not to your statement specifically, Elsie, and I'm really sorry if it came off that way. It is an assumption that pervades the job market; society values youth and appearance more than the intangible values that make a good employee. Transience seems to be the norm, rather than being in it for the long haul, as in my day. It's a jungle out there, and the older we get, the lower we are on the food chain...
I agree that some middle-aged folks sure can't move like kids- but do the kids have the ambition or the work ethic to do the moving? Is it their, or their families' bread and butter, or just a stepping stone to a "better" job? I think things like that make a good employee, too- not to mention the wisdom and life experience a few more years can bring to the table.

and I'm really sorry if it came off that way.No problem.
We think a LOT faster than we type, and we drop off a LOT of clues as to what we actually MEAN along the way.

" No problem. " Thank you!
The tough part is, I'm arthritic and have trouble sitting at a desk, and it's hard to type, so I use my phone which makes it hard to read sometimes, even the preview size font. Sometimes it takes forever to get the message out correctly! I've embarrassed myself more than once...😳
