Both traditional deacons (becoming a priest the next year.) and permanent deacons can give the homily.

**Does he sit on his rump after Communion as the rest of the congregation does the same?**
A mandated reflection time, I believe, after Communion is required.

Where do you stand with jesus christ, Salvation?
To: RedHeeler
To know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.

There are customs, but I don’t think there’s a rubric addressed to the people at all. IMHO, when a person returns to his pew, he should kneel or sit (whatever is more conducive to prayer), praying, and ignoring everything that is happening, until the priest says, “Let us pray” before the post-Communion prayer. And nothing should be said from the sanctuary until “Let us pray.” I.e., the time for any announcements is AFTER the post-Communion prayer.

I believe it’s “transitional” deacon, not “traditional”.

Way to go for all priests.

Hi! I'm so sorry, I didn't express my point very well! The thrust of what I was saying was that, instead of 1 chalice, the priest has as many more vessels to purify as he has EM's. All in all, I don't think it saves time to have EM's. I do, however believe that the Purification is important, and is liturgical in the fact that it is not an ordinary cleaning, but an assurance that no Particle nor Drops of the Eucharist are left behind. I'm sorry for not making that clear. I just think that EM's are best for hospitals and shut-ins and that the object ought not to be to save time at Mass- especially when that's our time with the Eucharistic Jesus within us.
G-d ♡ bless you!

I like to sit up front. For me, it's less distracting; easier to go up to receive with my cane; and I get to pray while the others receive.
My Monsignor who was pastor when I was growing up, once stopped the Offertory to tell a late comer to please go back home and put some clothing on! (She was wearing shorts). My last pastor had a niece who helped tend the grounds and dress the Altar. She had sets of blouses and skirts for females who came in without being properly covered! Smart idea, good lesson.

That’s interesting- it must have been a tough decision- and quite a book! Was it something Maria Simma said about the Holy Souls, an incident in her life, a message from one of them, that changed your mind (if you don’t mind my asking). I love the Holy Souls and I believe people do encounter them. The part I mentioned about the EM with the gloves upset me, and held me back on a decision... I couldn’t bring myself to do that- and would be prohibited from distributing Communion to the patients if I didn’t. Poor, dear Jesus!

I’ve heard of a church which had wrap-around skirts — fit any size to cover up the shorts.....and they were an ugly brown.

Thank you for your answer! If I were at a hospital i wouldn't mind the gowning of necessary, but touching the Sacred Host with disposable vinyl gloves, sick as i was at the time, it really upset me.
In not surprised that the stats are so bad on belief. Church has become a bit too social, IMHO. No quiet; no genuflecting; nothing to show the reverence due to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
It would be such a privilege to carry Jesus with me to others. I would hope that someone would do so for me. I'm not even able to genuflect anymore!... Last time I tried, I got so far and was unable to move either way! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But we do need to be an example to others of our own belief in the Eucharist- part of this is how we respect Him in church and at Mass.
Thanks again!

Any priest/bishop who permits “eucharistic ministers” (LAYMEN) to hand out Holy Communion probably does not believe in Transubstantiation.
