Tim Tebow Responds to Being Cut by the Philadelphia Eagles
YoungCons ^ | September 5, 2015 | John S. Roberts

When the Philadelphia Eagles traded third-string QB Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals, everyone and their mother thought the door was wide open for Tim Tebow to make the Eagles’ final 53-man roster.

That proved not to be the case.

True to his Christian ways, and proving that he’s a great sport who was appreciative of the opportunity he had in Philly, the former Heisman winner sent out this message…

Good man.

Don’t sweat it, Tim. This may or may not be your last chance in professional football, but your work off the field with your charity and spreading the word of the Lord is worth more than any NFL contract.

I just don’t get the decision by Head Coach Chip Kelly. Tebow would be such a threat on the five-yard line and on two-point conversions!

His hospitals and charitable work is amazing for such a young man.

I hope the publicity provides funding for those he’s helping.

He’s a young man with very good manners. I congratulate his parents!

I really thought the Eagles would cut the loser of the Bradford-Sanchez fight for first but they didn't. Now the Eagles have an injury prone first string QB and an erratic second string QB. They need a more proven QB than Tebow to back them both up.

i think the eagles are at 52, if espn is correct. they have one more slot.
kelly can bring tebow back, also tebow has a chance to get picked up by another club.

They’ll recall him before the season is halfway done.

I believe Philly will pick up one the third string QB’s cut by another team. Tebow is a class act and I wish he had made the team, but who knows the mind of Chip Kelly.

No they won't. Tebow and the Eagles are done.

There is a far greater reward for Tim I suspect than a Superbowl ring.

They're at 52 because they're looking for a third QB. There are rumors that they're looking at Christian Ponder who just got cut by the Raiders. But if Kelly thought Tebow was the solution for their third QB spot then he wouldn't have cut him in the first place. And while it's true that Tebow is now free to sign with another team I just don't see that happening. He's been tried and discarded by four teams now. I really think he's out of chances.

Tebow had a fine pre-season. He does owe the Eagles for giving him the PT to show his stuff. Not like two years ago with Patriots. He is the best free agent QB out there.

I have seen his hospital on Laurel Ave, in Davao City. It’s a nice facility, in the Agdau district.

Even if he could be a third string QB, the sideshow aspect that comes with him probably hurts his chances.

I think the sideshow has died down a lot and it was more a question of ability and consistency than distractions. There is a glut of quarterbacks out there now - Matt Cassel, Josh Freeman, Rex Grossman, Kellen Moore, and others - and I suspect the Eagles will go with one of them.

The Cowboys better pray that Romo doesn’t get hurt.

You can say that about almost every starting quarterback in the league.

Can’t wait to hear what the fans will say. I’m disappointed but only because I am not a team supporter but a player supporter. I like Tebow as a person and doesn’t matter what team he plays with since he plays for the Savior.

Class act, as always. Watched a couple of the Eagles pre-season games and it sure looked like he had improved substantially to me. I was also amazed to see that the City of Brotherly Shove seemed to really support him being on the field; sure were a lot of 11 jerseys out there, despite the fact that he hadn’t even made the roster. Its a real shame, because I think Tebow would have been a multiple threat in Kelly’s offense, and certainly more talented than Ponder, Freeman, etc.
