Agree with much you say except perhaps the harlot is more likely Jerusalem representing Israel.
Rev. 17:7 But the angel said to me, “Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast that was, is not (during John's time), and yet is, seems to be Babylon and in the end of the age "Mystery Babylon."
A few other references that seem to indicate this:
Rev. 17:18 And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
Rev. 17:3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast...
Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet...
Seems the "woman" is helped initially, in the end of the age, by the beast - a government (i.e. America, the UN, etc.), perhaps the final Greco-Roman form of government(s) all of which will broken to pieces when Messiah returns.
There are other tie-ins to Jerusalem/Israel being the harlot, such as scripture speaking of her destroying the saints/prophets in both Matt. and Rev. Many I think confuse the "harlot" with "Mystery Babylon". "Mystery Babylon" is the "beast" government, whom every that consists of, at the end of this age, when there will be no further need for governments.
How I see it anyway, for now. :-D
I just don't see a Dubai-like entity that ever was, or ever will be a "golden cup" in the Almighty's hand? But that's me - not saying it can't happen as you see it.
"Mystery Babylon", IMO, represents a government or unity of governments (i.e. UN). Reference to its demise in Rev., and the interpretation of king Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a statue representing his kingdom and the kingdoms to come by Daniel.
Keep in mine also that Israel itself has a "government". I'm still pondering the somewhat abstract notion what "the beast" means as related to government. That's what will be destroyed at the end of this age.
She (Israel) sits among the nations (governments of the UN).

It's kind of hard for us to comprehend a world without some form of government - takes some getting use to. But there wasn't one in the beginning. ;-)

I FEAR you are right, and have since before I signed up to this board in 1998, hence my screen name--however...
I keep debating this in my mind and have been doing so for decades. God wants more people saved. Jesus said He does not want even ONE to perish. Yet we call out to Him to come soon, but He wills it to be longer. How long? We do not know. It might even be presumptuous to want it sooner then later.
We truly cannot say when is the day and hour. We need to focus on our own salvation, not the world's or our country.
Eat, drink and be merry, but tomorrow you may die. Then the fate of the USA or world won't matter, but yours will be set.
OK. Well, you may be right. - I’m stuck here in the South & I just ask for God’s help & protection. Bottom line is Twinkie’s just a human being & don’t understand it all. Maybe one day I will, or at least what all I’m supposed to understand. - We don’t buy much of the stuff mentioned for Babylon dainties - cinnamon maybe. Otherwise; we live a pretty plain life in a modest house on the river; don’t get in to town all that often. This is overwhelming.

Re: Aholah and Aholibah (Eze 23). Note that even within the harlot Jerusalem’s name (Aholibah) is a fulfilment of “In JerUSAlem I will put my name.”
That is, the name in Exo 3:14, “I am” (Ehyeh), is spelled out in the name Aholibah:

Aholibah: alef hei lamed yud bet hei
That leaves lamed and bet, which spells lev, heart.

Daniel 7:25 talks about times and laws changing.some scholars have even said Rome or something out of Rome will think to change times and laws.
Read Ezekiel 46:1 and answer one question for me-
What are the Father’s New Moon Days if they aren’t one of His 6 Work Days or His Sabbath? Rome’s calendar doesn’t have an answer. But scripture does.
The first protestant refomers (pre Gregorian calendar) called the papacy the ‘seat of antichrist’ and the popes, ‘antichrist’..
And 500 years later,if they were still alive, would probably call the Gregorian calendar, the world sets its work and worship, ‘antichrist’s calendar’..
Today, popes are rock stars. And certainly not accused of being ‘antichrist’..

You would have to work out all the stuff about how the Antichrist will fool almost everyone on earth into thinking he is God and tries to take his seat at a reconstituted Temple in Jerusalem — in order to make a case for Israel to be Mystery Babylon.

If you have a Concordance, look up the Word ‘anti’..
It need not be used as ‘opposed to’ or ‘against’ like we understand today.
But, it can be used to mean ‘instead of’ or ‘in place of’. Strongs #473
Like an enemy without (like athiests,islam and frankly Rabbinic Judaism given 1 John 2:22)
Or an enemy within
(1 John 2:18-19 and 1 John 4:1-3)
Here’s the rub- has Rome been a vessel to bring a substitute ‘in place of’ Christ, a false Christ, to life?
