The English daily The Independent has published a sensationalized story claiming that a monastery in Italy is being used to “cure” priests of homosexuality.
Father Gianluigi Pasto, speaking for the Venturini monastery, explained that his community actually helps priests with many different sorts of problems—much like the treatment centers in the US and elsewhere. “I can only say that here we help priests become healthy,” he said.
Nevertheless, the story about the Venturini monastery prompted a statement of outrage from New Ways Ministry, an American group that promotes acceptance of homosexuals. “Being gay is not a disease,” said Francis DeBernardo. “What needs to be cured is not homosexuality but homophobia.”

The priest I respect the most was a former Marine.
He heard rumors about one of the priests at the diocesan school making advances on some of the boys. I was told the story years later - He told this guy privately “If I ever hear another story like this, I WILL beat the sh** out of you.
The other priest left his vocation shortly thereafter to pursue other career opportunities.
Problem solved promptly, with brevity and no harm done to anyone and no scandal to the Church. A kind of wisdom, no doubt.
I visited the Independent for the first time today on a different subject altogether. A more obtuse left-wing rag which makes the Village Voice look like Highlight Magazine, I’ve never seen.
An American group gets all upset over what’s happening in England and Italy? Is that a chip on their shoulder or the whole Doritos factory?
No harm unless the fellow was a target of untrue gossip.
I knew both men at the time. We all suspected the one guy was queer, and the other was smart and circumspect enough to have more to go on than just the gossip of 14-15 year-old boys.
What “more to go on” would there be, sans the investigation that would “produce the scandal”?

It was before the APA decided, for no reason whatsoever except political pressure, to declassify it as a mental disorder....
Their picayune opinion made me realize why Pope Francis is going out of his way to be polite to faggots: being Satanic, they have no use for the Bible and its words of truth, so they ascribe repulsion of faggots to homophobia, which they claim is now an illness, rather than a Biblical truth.
Hurrah for the circumspect priest.
